Well done - fantastic effort. Great video work, too! Excellent stuff. Did you use your watch to navigate (gpx) or just your phone?
@cptmtb27 күн бұрын
Thanks! I Know most of the routes on our mountain but I always have my GPS computer with me to make sure I stay on the planned route. PS: I almost never use my watch for navigation, I just can't get used to scrolling and looking at trails on that tiny screen (Garmin Fenix 7)

Nicely done! So inspirational! Does anyone know what the purpose of the ankle strap is around 02:49 ?

Ah, I think it relates to support after the injury.

Hi Johan, I had Plantar Fasciitis injury at the time. The ankle strap goes under my heel to help relieve the pressure and pain on my heel.

What camera are you using that your battery is lasting the whole ride? Also instead of displaying elevation rather show total elevation and maybe power. It’s great for us who haven’t done these races to decide on which bike and type of terrain you covering! Thanks Noel
@cptmtb7 ай бұрын
Hi Noel thanks for your comment. I use the DJI Action 3 camera @4K with a small 5000mAh powerbank to keep the battery charged. The current app I use for the overalys can't display total elevation. Power would be great but I don't have a powermeter on the bike - that's work in progress.. I have found an app that's fully customizable for the overlay data, can display total elevation, power and much, much more but it's to expensive at the moment to buy considering that this is only a hobby...

I just read the news from the organisers that they did not meet the criteria for the Abbott World Marathon Majors, so decided to take a look at videos of last year's race. Thanks for capturing it! Years ago this was my first ever marathon - and I live in Joburg. I wanted to make it a destination race - in addition, the high altitude and gazillion hills up here made me think that running at the coast would be a lot easier (and it was). Fast forward to today and I've done maybe 20 marathons, 5 Two Oceans and back to back Comrades. I got so much nostalgia watching this and so want to go back for my second CPT marathon. Possibly smash my course time or PB because I heard it's even flatter than it was years ago when I ran it!
@cptmtb7 ай бұрын
Dude! Glad you liked the video. You should definitely come do your next marathon here! It's such a lekker vibe. The course is relatively flat but there's still a few inclines that some people don't like. Well done on your 20+ marathons!

Dankie Evert!
