The handset buttons don't do anything. You assume they work like an intercom with buttons being used for some kind of call function, but behind those buttons is metal strip to keep them in place and give some resistance when pressing them. All that's inside them is a diaphragm and coil which transmits the voice signal to the other hand-set. Once pugged in, speaking into one hand-set could be heard in the other - a sightly less crude system than soup tins stretched between a length of string. The centre display with the gold backing should have a red needle. This randomly spun when the buzzer was operated, as it was in contact with the buzzer mechanism behind the panel. This wasn't originally British or Merit's own design - It was formerly available in the U.S.A. as the Remco Radio Station.

"Vintage," lol! 2016 isn't vintage. I feel like this video was created by a 16 year-old who thinks everything is vintage because they haven't lived for that long.
@midastouchtoys
@midastouchtoys 4 күн бұрын
Yep, your correct it should have set Retro instead, however vintage has a wide definition which is different for everyone and the merchandise it relates to. The common conception of a vintage toy is over 20 years old but less than 100 years. However in the vintage toy industry, toys that have not been produced for 10 years are also classified as vintage. In most cases it depends on the person, but no matter what your age, toys from your childhood are considered vintage. This is something we have learnt from being in the vintage toy industry for nearly 50 years. Someone in there early 20’s who had a Star Wars toy when the was 10 years old would call it vintage, however somebody in the 40’s or 50’s wouldn’t. It all comes down to you point of view at the end of the day and as we deal with collectors from all ages, we use the word vintage in most cases as this should suit everyone of all ages. It’s ironic how a simple word causes so much controversy!!

You are totally butchering "Palisades". It's not Japanese. It's an English word. Rhymes with "Ace of Spades".
@midastouchtoys
@midastouchtoys 9 күн бұрын
Interesting, so what does the word mean? A short lived company, only running for 12 years, but had a large line of figures under there belt, but due to several reasons was unable to make the business pay and subsequently filled for Bankruptcy in 2006. Part of the company was sold to CAS inc but Palisades ceased in 2006. I know many collectors that have bought their toy lines that have struggled with the pronunciation, I am not the first and won’t be the last!!!

Not sure the first item is "incredibly sort after: as every fan and his dog owns the GotD album on original cassette or LP, or one of its several better reissued such as the 2011 Vintage Beeb CD or 2016 LP. Slipback is easy and cheap to find on at least three CD reissued.

Tom Baker narrates the 1979 Genesis of Daleks LP, not Colin. Slipback was made as part of a Radio 4 educational show and as such is 6 episodes of about 10 minutes length. It's simplistic but quite good fun from what I remember.

@@midastouchtoys I know. It's an old Earth custom called a "joke". But seriously, I never knew he had lost a finger in WWII and I was a die hard Star Trek from back when the original series aired and the movies. They were so concerned not to show it that the cinematographer specifically blocked every shot that Jimmie was in so that his hand never showed. That was extremely considerate of them. It wasn't until just a few years ago that I learned about it.

It's ironic that as much time has passed since the toy was released in the 90s when people were nostalgic for retro Anderson productions, as there was from the 60s to the 90s. Also, the artwork is as beautiful as something FROM the 60s. I honestly didn't remember these releases being quite so beautiful. I guess I was becoming a teen at that point so I probably started to see this kind of stuff as very childish. I'd quite like to get these though. I've got the nee set of Anderson figures ordered from Master Replica but I'd also like to own these 90s versions.
