I like the deleted version because it would have partially mirrored Jeff Gordons final win at martinsville. Martinsville was one of gordons last chances to make it to the championship for his final year and he pulled it off. He didnt win the championship or frankly do very well after martinsville, but he still got the chance to do so. Gordon was stated to have been an inspiration for lightnings character and was a story consultant on some of the movies. He also voiced a character in cars 2 and 3.

There are plenty of animated movies and other that deserve to get this treatment.

Yup, Cars 2 just give the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy treatment, both evolved from hated when released to grown loved it in a good way. Let’s hope Planes and Planes Fire and Rescue did the same treatment like Cars 2 did. That’s why I wished Cars 4 will be sequel to Cars 2.

I still don’t think Cars 2 is great but it’s not all bad and there are plenty of far worse Pixar films Kinda weird how people complain about how how Cars 2 was only made to sell merchandise. I mean it was but I can say the same thing about any other Pixar squeal, that’s what companies do, find ways to make as much money as possible

I don't think people wanted Mcqueen to win against Storm, and I personally thought it was time for Mcqueen to pass the torch. But the final product of the film just did it in such a contrived way that has never been hinted at before and was logically hard to accept. Like switching numbers mid-race?? You've got to be kidding me. Not to mention Sterling, while an opportunutist and a money-focused guy, had no reason to be treated as an evil villain at the last second. He had shown decent amount of respect and had allowed Mcqueen to race as a last offer.

I actually agree with this, because as much as I'm not a huge fan of TS4, I've noticed that a lot of people are saying that Bonnie lost interest in Woody, broke her promise to Andy to always take care of him, "abandoned" him for Forky, etc. Honestly, I remember that there was a scene where Bonnie was playing with both Woody and Forky in a scene before sitting down to have lunch with her family before continuing their road trip.

Andy also had his anti-Woody era!

It's odd seeing syndrome interact with a baby version of their oldest offspring. It's just nice seeing them as a family tackle the villain.

I think this opening would be a good start for A post-superhero movie, just not The Incredibles. Exploring a couple's life after they've retired from being superheroes is an interesting concept and The Incredibles touches on it briefly, but I'd like to see it delved into a bit more in another property.

I think the alternate opening could be the start of a darker and more realistic AU.

See, I could've seen the intro part, the cookout scene, as being part of the show. It's a way to show off the banality of his existence, and also the concerns he faces as a superhero in refuge. The call to Syndrome could've been the trigger to start his plot to lure him to the island in the first place. It would show how Syndrome knew who to contact in the first place, and also kind of show Syndrome's obsession that he had at least one and possibly many individuals actively looking for him. Gives you that creepy stalker vibe. For the home invasion scene, it might have done well at the very end of the movie, instead of the one we got with Syndrome and Jak-Jak. There's something very visceral about threatening a parent's kid, it's every parent's fear. So yea, these scenes, adapted slightly and placed differently, could've added to the movie. But I'm glad we got the Syndrome backstory we did.

I love the movie as is but this is a pretty cool scene.

I do really like the idea of using a mirror to counter Synbroms attack. Clever and also visually funny seeing Bob just tilt the mirror to smash him into the ceiling XD Shame we didnt get a scene like that at least.

I saw the barbecue scene as a kid and always thought it was less a "non-canon" scene and more just a "this didn't fit in the movie's runtime" scene. So I like to believe it absolutely was canon, happening some years after the intro we know and before the movie really began.

I am so very glad that Incredibles got the rewrite it had. That alt. opening just becomes "generic super hero story", and what we got was something truly special. Syndrome as a character is absolutely brilliant in the final version, from the backstory on.

3:55 A friend recently pointed out a little neat detail regarding this. In Bob’s room, when he is receiving the message from Mirage, you can see a jar of bullets that have been fired at him, and crushed as a result. Mr. Incredible is canonically bulletproof.

This would make a great short film if they just changed the villain, maybe still keeping the zero point energy if they gave it a more crude unfinished prototype design.
