That is consistent with the fact that Adam's mind is only a few months old. Unlike Eve, when Adam was animated he had no prior knowledge. He was also traumatized from the beginning by being mistreated by Willie and Barnabas. Professor Stokes befriended Adam and began to teach him. Nicholas, however, took advantage of Adam's trauma and naivete to corrupt Adam and make Adam dependent on him. Nicholas also convinced Adam that Professor Stokes had betrayed Adam by deceiving him and colluding with Barnabas and Julia to try to stop the experiment. Now, Adam is faced with having a mate who is hostile toward him and constantly argues with him. If someone as powerful and sophisticated as Nicholas has trouble handling Eve, what hope does the inexperienced Adam have of dealing with her on his own? Nicholas, having isolated Adam from everyone else to gain control over Adam, is now the only person Adam has to turn to help him with his problems. In order to maintain his control, Nicholas doesn't want to teach Adam how to deal with his problems on his own, but instead wants to reinforce Adam's dependence on him.

My comment got deleted. Why I don't know. I didn't say anything offensive. All I said was that Nicholas slapped Eve a hard one, and she immediately stopped being attracted to him and started hating his guts.

@ I can't blame her for that. It would be worse if that had made her more attracted to Nicholas. Of course Nicholas doesn't care whether Eve is attracted to him or not. He just wants her to obey him. He is smitten with Maggie.

David has been fond of Vicki ever since she saved from a fiery doom with his mother Laura Collins.

I think it's hilarious how disdainful Eve is of everything! Marie Wallace is such a great actress because the real Marie is an incredibly nice person. After Marie left Dark Shadows she went to a soap called Somerset, which had been a spin-off of Another World. I started watching it just to see her. The character she played, India Delaney, was a lot like Eve, it was great fun to watch.

Carolyn always insisted that while she cared for Adam she could never really 'be' in love with him....was she just lying to herself?

@@SOLE2SOUL I never understood Marie's reason for leaving Dark Shadows. Marie said she left after Megan Todd was staked, and she was out of a job. After Eve died, Marie played Jenny Collins, after Jenny died Marie played Megan Todd. Marie would have been cast in another DS role. Marie lost a role in House of Dark Shadows because she left the show.

I' m sure : Carolyn likes Adam ... and she' s close to love him. And Adam is madly in love . Carolyn and Adam would do a strange and wonderfull couple.

I couldn't agree more, Robert Cobert's music really is superb and I think it's very highly regarded. The person who doesn't get enough credit is the Music Supervisor Sybil Weinberg. It was her job to select which cues to play in each episode and she did a great job. And I don't think she ever missed a day of work her whole time on Dark Shadows. When the show first started, they had a different Music Supervisor but watching those first couple of weeks of shows, it's clear he didn't connect with the music or how to use it. Once Sybil took over, everything fell in place. I started watching the show in 1968 and I got the soundtrack LP for Christmas 1969. It's amazing to me that you can buy the entire Dark Shadows music library in an 8 CD Set today. I was so sad when the show originally went off the air but wouldn't have been so much if I had known one day I could own the entire series to watch AND the music to listen to by itself.

@@SOLE2SOUL remarkable knowledge on your part i was only few years old when the show ended but thanks to streaming sights many of these eps are available on cue and i really enjoy especially when they include the original ABC closing credits with announcer voicing upcoming programming etc that takes you back i had the board game as a kid in 70s but think i was too young to figure exactly what the heck to do ?
