Excellent video Mr Boogie, not actually travelled on the worth valley line but it looks quite picturesque and the volunteers seem to enhance the experience. Well done 🤓

I've read that some optimist tried very hard to persuade the railway to build a tunnel from Oxenhope to Hebden Bridge. Fortunately the company had more sense.

Priceless memories, I thank you for sharing them. Not a frequent traveller on the Midland but did venture in the late 60s to Wellingborough a couple of times. As a Southern railwayman it was an eye opener seeing different traction. Most of the Southern was CEP BEP and HAP units with the odd EPB. The pictures of West Hampstead box and semaphore signalling took me back to my first signalling location at Canterbury East. In BR days although there were faults there was always a family culture. You didn’t have to make various phone calls or show a piece of paper to get things done. A simple polite request that all it took. Again thank you for such wonderful memories. Take care.

Hi do you recommend Ipswich
@BoogiesTrains2 күн бұрын
Hi. There is a video of Ipswich a few years ago on this channel. I went when the 755s were fairly new but the 90s were still on the Norwich services. It was an interesting trip but I didn't get beyond the station as the weather was not good.

Boogie Trains in your opinion who in Europe operates the best train service?

wonderful footage from Sheffield think cross country have got extra voyagers from Avanti West coast now not sure though
@BoogiesTrains7 күн бұрын
I didn't see any of them over my weekend away. The Avanti ones probably need some work doing to the interiors before starting service. GC has some former Avanti units in service already.
@BoogiesTrains7 күн бұрын
Just checking the detail of what I did see. I have recorded 221114 at Derby on 14 October - 1V56 Glasgow Central to Plymouth. I think that is a former Avanti unit. I don't see any other on my lists.
@ejc71297 күн бұрын
Ex Avanti 221114 to 221116 are already operating with XC. Ex Avanti 221107 to 221113 and 221117/221118 are to be added to the XC fleet in due course over the next few months making a total of 12 extra 5 car Voyagers for the XC fleet.

Great that you use subtitles, much appreciated. Also that we don't have to see you all the time. The irony is probably that you have a pleasant face, but so many video makers seem to think that they are the star!

Thank you. The trains are the stars, I just like to add some information that you can read or ignore.

I wonder why it is that new units outside the London area still come in largely 2 or 3 coach formations. No doubt there are short platforms to deal with but it does rather show a lack of ambition for future growth as well as near contempt for the current travelling public. And as for XC, has it ordered any new trains at all since Virgin was in charge? It's not as if it can't fill its trains. Good film as ever, thanks.
@BoogiesTrains7 күн бұрын
I have to say that the 2 car 195s seem particularly short sighted and are definitely inappropriate for some of the routes they serve. They are also used in pairs so there is obviously a need for 4 car units. A simple solution would be to get CAF to build more centre cars whilst the production line is still in operation. Same argument might apply to West Midlands and Wales.

Do you think that HS2 could come to Leeds and to have a new station built that would be adjacent to Leeds City station. I have been to Leeds before and it’s a very nice city.
@BoogiesTrains16 күн бұрын
Who knows what will eventually happen with HS2. It would be far better to integrate any high speed lines with the rest of the railway and just recognise that the short distances between our main population centres makes very high speed unnecessary. People don't like changing trains unnecessarily. It is all very well saving 5 or 6 minutes on an end to end journey by going faster but a change of train is always going to lose more than that.

I bought a day rover in advance as I didn't want to get involved with buying individual tickets for each journey. In any case I had no real idea how far I would have time to go. I did the same in Sheffield. One of them was £5 and the other a very small amount more. Can't remember which was which.

Great video, many thanks. Seems odd to have two and three carriage DMUs operating in and out of Marylebone (must be the only London terminus without electrification), but I guess there isn’t sufficient demand outside peak hours. I looked at the timings of Chiltern trains on Realtime Trains and it cannot be said that they’re speedy. A bit of investment needed I’d say.

The new station needs to be of high quality to match the new Berlin Hauptbahnhof.
@clivebroadhead438121 күн бұрын
The new station needs to be resighted to the southwest to allow through running in more directions.
@BoogiesTrains18 күн бұрын
But, would that be convenient for passengers who get off at Leeds. Multiple units can turn round in a couple of minutes unlike when engines needed to be coupled so the time penalty for a reversal is not much.
@clivebroadhead438121 күн бұрын
The use of bulky castellated beams instead of lighter weight space frames is ugly and unusual compared to the practice in the rest of Europe. Just stop using the heavy beams to improve the aesthetics of Overhead Line Equipment.
