Is that the hall on Grove Road? I recognise the round windows in the double doors. If so, that's where I attended Brownies and Sunday School. These girls and boys would have been a few years older than me. I, too, was a regular at All Saints - we lived just opposite. Happy days. Is that Mr Lamb, one of the clergy, doing the drying up? I think he used to live in one of the clergy houses next to Royal Free Juniors on Bachelor's Acre. I also remember Mr Must conducing services at All Saints. Thank you for this trip down memory lane 😊

Thank you too, yes that's the hall in Grove Road. Were the Misses Ayres the Brownie leaders? I think the clergyman doing the drying is David Price but yes I'm sure he did live on Bachelor's Acre. I remember Mr Must conducting services too. He sounded the "t"s at the end of words distinctly and seemed to call out "Pray!" rather than "Let us Pray". I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's great to get some feedback!

Hello@@DavidSmith-vv2ff - thank you for your reply and for confirming that it's the Grove Road Hall. I attended the 1st Windsor Brownies, which was led by the two Miss Watkins, whereas the two Miss Ayres led the 2nd Windsor Brownies. I can still picture the two Miss Ayres - on Sundays, they always sat in one of the front pews on the right-hand side as you look from the choir (I was a junior member for a few years!). Ah, thanks for correcting me regarding David Price's name. I'm not sure where 'Mr Lamb' came from! It's nice that you recall Mr Must, too. He did have a distinctive way of speaking 😊 Do you recall Miss Campbell, the organist? My first teacher, Angela Drewitt, was a member of the choir in recent years. We kept in touch and I was saddened to learn of her death a few years ago, and that of her husband, John. I attended the memorial service at All Saints, which was the last time I visited (I live far away now). Are you still local?

You’ll spot the Brownie leaders in this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIemqH-bf8p8mMk Miss Campbell features in this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2PaiWR9Z76mqqM David Price appears in this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHaUi4SkmpxlZrM There are a total of 15 All Saints and Parish Church videos and I also have series on Windsor Cubbing and Scouting and the Allotments Association. Share links with your Windsor friends and also let me know if you spot yourself in any of them! I have moved away too and live in Aberdeen, but visited Windsor regularly until my father died. His second wife was niece of the Misses Ayres, and I often saw the last survivor of the sisters. On one occasion when I was in Windsor looking after my father after my stepmother died, Angela Drewitt visited him to give communion, and on one occasion I showed her some colour slides of a church outing to see who she could identify… Thanks again for being in touch!

@@DavidSmith-vv2ff thank you for the above links - very interesting. I spotted the two Miss Ayres in the first video, but sadly didn't recognise any of the brownies or other leaders. My pack, 1st Windsor, attended Church Parade services at the Parish Church, and I remember on one occasion being (somewhat unfairly, I thought) scolded by Brown Owl (the elder Miss Watkins) for missing Church Parade - I had, in fact, been singing with the choir at All Saints at the time and it hadn't occurred to me that Church Parade trumped my weekly commitment to singing in the choir 😂 It was good to see Miss Campbell in the second video. She looked younger there than I recall. I used to have piano lessons with her at the lovely house she shared with her sister on Frances Road, and recall that she drove a Volkswagen Beetle (I think), and that she had a minor accident whilst driving it on Alexandra Road, knocking over some masonry. The third video was enjoyable, and one boy looked familiar (?C Tilly) but lots of faces I didn't recognise. I wasn't in any of those videos, but it was fun looking - thank you 😊 I was interested to read about your connection to the two Miss Ayres and Angela Drewitt. I will look out for your other videos and see whether I can see any familiar faces. Are you in any of the videos? I imagine you must be! Also, I would be interested to know which infants/juniors you attended - were you at Royal Free Juniors like myself? Regards to Aberdeen from Bristol 👋

I remember Chris Tilly too. He was often seen with his granny. And thanks for your memories of Miss Campbell and Miss Watkins. I was at Oakfield / Grammar and second Windsor cubs/scouts (Methodists). I’ve just realised I’ve not put the cubbing and scouting cine clips up on KZbin yet, I’ll have to put that on my to do list - but there is this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWWyiKCId8SGj9U which you may find amusing. I made three DVDs out of my dad’s cine film some time before putting the clips from two of them on KZbin. Were you still in Windsor when the new hall was opened in 1989? I wasn’t. My parents led the fundraising campaign. It was a few months before my mum died (she is btw doing the washing up with David Price in the Youth Club film) I don’t know who filmed the opening of the new hall but my dad had a VHS video of it which I digitized. kzbin.info/www/bejne/onjImGaOq7Obo9E Even if you weren’t still in Windsor you’ll no doubt recognize some of the people. I am btw the third person to come into the hall in the youth club film, just after my brother and am sitting on the edge of the stage playing cards at 3.27. Thanks again for your memories and for being in touch. Sent from my iPhone
