If that what didn't happen ( and I'm pretty sure it did) , then it should have happened. For the boys died. But God would not let them die in vain.

Don't know why, but every time I've watched this scene, I get chills. There's acting and there's real moments, this is the latter. You can't fake sincerity and these men were sincere in their expression.

One of the subtle developments in this movie is Jupiter learning to read. At first he can’t read and Thomas happily offers to teach him how to read. Theres a scene in the middle where Jupiter is reading (the bible I think) bit by bit. Here he has clearly learned a lot within a short time and quotes the book.

It’s a cute sentiment, but unfortunately giving bl**k people freedom resulted in a major miscalculation. They don’t appreciate their freedom & they damn sure do not respect this country or the battles that were fought to make them FREE men. Burning the flag, bitching & complaining at every chance they get, never truly seeing themselves as part of America. It’s because they aren’t. America was founded on a white, Christian identity. If you take that away from America, she no longer has her identity and will be unrecognizable. As America becomes less white, America will decline & eventually become a destroyed, shell of her former self. We celebrate this? I for one will never celebrate this. The Confederacy fought a valiant fight and I salute them. Blood & soil 👊🏻

funny and ironic that you say that you are less American and ect but support a institute that didn’t find themselves American and something else to the point they were willing to destroy America so they could save their institutions of slavery and oppress those to make more wealth from it. If anyone who doesn’t sound American, it’s you.

This scene is BEYOND powerful. Knowing that they are fighting for a country that does not love them, but still showing total dedication to the greater cause. Its the burden that specifically affects black folks. To embody that pain, pride, strength and emotion on a camera is a testament of the professionalism of these actors. I truly think this is one of the best scenes EVER filmed.

Nobody owns people. We are a nation of individual people. That is problematic right there, claiming everyone like we slave. That mentalty hold folks back. This scene is not that message. I'm black and native. This an American People scene. In the end, Trip did it for God and America. Not Shaw. Oh, Shaw was based too in that scene. My top 10 of all films.

We men, ain’t we. Sigh. Finally, these men were allowed to be free men, if only for a short while. Sigh. We owe these men a lot. Too much, actually. I love being an American. Thanks 54th. Thank you and God bless.

I come back to this video because we need it. I need you 54th, i love you lord. I love my brothers and sisters who hold that good book high through trials and tribulations. I fear no evil nor struggle nor battle nkr pain. I ask for you to give me strength to hold others up. I love you jesus and the 54th. I love you lord, i love my brothers alive and gone i love you and ask for your blessings. Amen! Glory to you good lord and the 54th. Im honored that my ancestors rest amongst your bones. White or dark, brothers they fought for freedom i salute and love the 54th. My great grandfather was white and fought alongside the coloured man, why? Not to appease culture today but to preserve freedom for all that we know now. I am glad that he died with his brethren that day in 64. I would fight with the 54th anyday. They are heroes. We fight facing the enemy always as brothers in Jesus's name amen. We fight. I love my brothers amen ❤❤❤

Trip, in his signifying, comes around to the dressing down he got from Rawlins, when Rawlins said, "If there're any _______ around here it's YOU," and, "we're going to have to pitch in like men! Like MEN!" This has clearly been on Trip's mind. He says here, "We men, ain't we."
