Thanks for the back up .... I am convinced, but 45 W are a lot if you want to use it also at home, at reasonable acoustic levels ... is the master volume efficient enough to be able to have THAT sound, even if at 1 ? thanks

I gig this amp regualr and also have a blues junior I prefer this, I use the switches depending on the guitar being used and the stage it sits on. Only few gripes is the power lead sometimes gets loose easily and I had to do a repair on the cheap reverb cable. Its loud enough for gigging. The line out is not emulated with an ir so sounds poor so you will need to mic it or run the line out into another pedal that has Ir or a mini di with a built in cab sim. Great amp though.
@Learnguitarwithcharlie8 күн бұрын
Cheers Andrew, yeah it's a good 'un and yes definitely best to mic it up, over using the line out.

Hi mate! I have been playing for many years (im now 50) both professionally and original bands etc. I bought all of the RockSchool books and CD, with the intention of using them to teach. However, as I have never really had lessons, I felt the first book started on quite a high level for brand new players. So I guess my question is, what would you suggest teaching these type of students before starting this type of course? Great video mate!
@Learnguitarwithcharlie27 күн бұрын
Hi Dave, this is an ancient video! Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, Grade One would be too high, they also offer a debut series of books which are better suited to beginners. Or, perhaps just start them with some basic riffs and ideas to get them playing initially. I think that it really depends on the player to dictate what approach to take. Have a look at the debut books for Trinity and RGT too to perhaps see what best suits you style.

Hi, Can I skip acoustic guitar grades in LCM?
@Learnguitarwithcharlie5 ай бұрын
Hello, yes I think you can, in theory - skip as many grades as you like but that's not necessarily advisable. It's usually always best to try to do them in sequential order.

Hi, I'm currently doing the grade 8 in electric guitar and will be submitting my video soon. But I'm a bit confused as to whether or not you are allowed to use a metronome for the scales section. I have emailed LCME direct, but the anwers do still not make it that clear. My issue, is that the book states the scales need to played at 160bpm and the arpeggios at 126bpm. Which is fine with a metronome. But doing this without one and trying to stay completely in time seems counter intuitive to me. Would you know the answer?
@Learnguitarwithcharlie5 ай бұрын
Hi mate, sorry - not sure to be honest just because I can't see anything explicit about it on the website. I would say that you don't need to have the metronome on but perhaps just use it at the start (before you play) the technical to give you an idea of the speed perhaps. I think you are probably allowed to use it throughout though if you'd prefer just as long as the examiner can hear your scales clearly. Not sure that's much help?
@YawpMusic5 ай бұрын
Thank you for this, a very useful check in. I think I'd prefer a touch more hi end, is that available on the controls or should I get a different speaker?
@Learnguitarwithcharlie5 ай бұрын
Cheers, I would say that the speaker will have biggest impact so perhaps look at getting a Vintage 30 or something with more high end. You can adjust the EQ to give you more of a top end sound but I would say that a different speaker will do more of a 'convincing' job.

Can you fail if your guitar is slightly out of tune
@Learnguitarwithcharlie6 ай бұрын
Good question - no you wouldn't necessarily fail but from (I think) grade 3, candidates are expected to be able to tune the guitar themselves. Beyond that, if the guitar was out of tune in a way which really affected the musical result, that would be noted by the examiner. That wouldn't necessarily be a 'fail' but marks could be lost.

Hey Charlie, regarding playing this piece for ALCM, do you need to improvise after playing the melody or do you just follow the exact notation from the "Jazz-Guitar play-along vol. 16" book?
@Learnguitarwithcharlie7 ай бұрын
Hello Leslie, yes, you would need to improvise your own solo after playing the main melody. I provide a break-down of the Diploma stuff (including Jazz) in this video in case it helps kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKTdh3p9e7pkgpYsi=o0eCUIAB1-vXBKXy

I couldn't agree more mate. I definitely feel in general people should spend more time figuring out what works for them, and what they need and want from an instrument. Rather than watching countless so called guitar review videos, which are ultimately sales videos designed to encourage you to buy.

You put the dot under the 1/8th note. That means it is staccato. Beside the note is a half more of the dotted notes length.

No problem, for a grade 5 acoustic recorded exam - you would need to one rhythm study and one solo piece. Link to the info here:
