@DanielBisagni5 ай бұрын
This is true if you trust AT&T or your other internet service providers, but they go through data breaches too. AT&T just admitted to one from TWO YEARS AGO. Now that was for Account information but it could also be for data like this, and they're less obligated to mention stuff like this.... ALSO you are correct, you don't have to do all these security processes, you just have to do more then the next person and the attacker will move on. Choose what you want, but don't do nothing. Thanks for the comment!
@chadvanderlinden95485 ай бұрын
@@DanielBisagni What are you going on about? Are you a bot? Do you understand what an SSID is? It's a human-friendly text advertisement that is sent along with the AP's MAC address. If you turn the SSID off, then it just advertises the MAC address alone. Turning off the SSID and then changing the SSID such as your tutorial advises is like you had a sign out in front of your house but you took it indoors to avoid attention but then you faffed around to re-do the sign... which nobody will see anyway.
@DanielBisagni5 ай бұрын
@chadvanderlinden9548 haha, no I'm not a bot... but hiding your SSID without changing it or the password allows your Internet Service Provider to retain default access to your network.
@chadvanderlinden95485 ай бұрын
@@DanielBisagni No. There's a separate administration network and interface which customers don't see and cannot block. Knowing your SSID, hidden or not, does not give your ISP any special access to your network EVEN IF they don't have an admin back door.

Yes generally it can be located in the registry, but usually you will need physical access to the pc... and in that case, as they say in Texas, "Come and take it..." but good point using just a Password is becoming more and more not enough. MFA or Multi Factor Authentication is another layer of protection you can use if you think the physical location can be compromised.

How to build a memorable yet unbreakable password: 1 ) Pick three unrelated details which you know you will never forget, such as: ~ One segment of your parent's/child's phone number ~ The name of your best childhood friend ~ The make or model of your first car 2 ) Associate their order/sequence with where you're using this password 3 ) Reverse one detail and 1337 one (possibly even the same one) Say you're using 4987, Becky, and Toyota, and this is for your personal email account: ykc3B_4987_Toyota is your password Seventeen characters is a pretty strong password length and, to even attempt to crack it based on personal information, they'd have to know exactly which three details you selected, which order they're in, which ones are 1337ed, which ones are reversed, and what (if any) special characters you used to separate them.

Okay, so this is what I found. It depends on what symbols are approved on the symbol list on the site or app that the programmer used. If they included it, then yes, it's just another symbol. This was the site that helped me with that: security.stackexchange.com/questions/59071/should-a-space-in-a-password-count-as-a-symbol-when-checking-for-complexity#:~:text=From%20a%20complexity%20perspective%20it,complexity%20to%20its%20full%20potential.

Take the first (or some other position) letter of the words to a song lyric, Bible verse, or phrase. Substitute a number(s) for a vowel(s), and add one or more punctuation marks in there somewhere. That usually makes a password that is complex enough, memorable if you know the meaning, and not easy for someone to remember if they happen to get a glance at it. For example, "Talwsatg!gasbtsth1971!" = "There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold and she's buying the stairway to Heaven" (written/released in 1971) 22 characters long, and at first glance looks like gibberish. Go ahead and try to crack something like that... I'll wait (while doing other things)...
