Capcom's way past the point of needing to take a crack at doing what Sega did with Sonic Mania, and let fans get an official go with the IP -- either with a game or with a show/special. Hell, you could do both; make the show/special in the game's universe, using it as promotion material. I think that (much) more effort should be put into the gameplay and presentation than Sonic Mania, as in my opinion that game showed off the series' flaws as much as anything, especially with Freedom Planet out there now, but fans enjoyed it, and it was by no means a bad game. Either way, Capcom doesn't know what to do with the series, and they don't know what fans want -- they just know they should probably do _something_ with him. With the wealth of fan talent and creativity out there in the world, I think a series like Mega Man could benefit a lot from a developer that knows where to be nostalgic and where to push the series, instead of fumbling the bag with both, as it's much more likely to do. That said, I wouldn't be able to tell ya if a traditional 2D platformer or something more ambitious should be done, but in the latter's defense, Mega Man used to have as many subseries as it did letters in its name. On the other hand, Mega Man X in particular is long past due to be done justice as a series. I'd be more interested in it than this uncanny Prime Video thing either way.

You know what? Pretty solid, actually. I dunno how much I buy it as a protagonist's voice, but it'd probably grow on me, although X4 doesn't give a lot of opportunity for that. And Zero's a little awkward, but compared to the original, how much can you complain? Do some Maverick Hunter X sometime and make a believer out of me, maybe. Gatha and Gilbertson have grown into and made the characters their own by then, but an alternate take with more time to "get to know" your rendition would be fun. Thanks for the video!

Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting to hear what I heard and the scene brought a tear to my eye like it should've originally done back in 1997. Amazing how great voice acting can completely change a scene almost 30 years later.

The reason X and Zero sound so miscast in X4 was because Capcom were cheapskates, and scammed the Mega Man 8 voice cast into dubbing X4 without telling them it was a separate game, so they could get away with not paying them for it.

Always hated that they gave X a girly voice in this game. Very impressive, not just the voice acting itself, but how the dialogues are closer to the Japanese version.

Maybe Capcom's next thing, in the games space, for Mega Man could be Mario Maker-esque, a Mega Man Maker. Levels designed by, boss designs submitted by, batches of 8 of each plus a final boss and boss level arranged by, the community of fans. People want more Mega Man to play, and that could give years of replay value. And it wouldn't have to do anything to the lore, could be completely non-canon, if the company's worried about messing that up. Or if there absolutely must be some kind of story, perhaps make Quint be the ultimate big bad of it, and have the lore behind it be that it's all a bunch of alternate timelines. Quint manipulates other ostensible big bads into trying to take down Mega Man, and he just keeps trying and failing, no matter how things are arranged.

I'm honestly kind of sceptical that AI is going to be able to handle more poetic or specific cultural reference filled language, or deal with things like puns and metaphors. Seems like it'll mostly be for simple or formal speech, but is probably going to get confused as machine translation always does by more idiomatic expressions.
