I have a question... is there some kind of reference to look at to determine the best vacuum pressure and temperature to use to distill very high boiling substances like ketones bat boil at 260 or at least over 200 where they would obviously decompose at that temperature. I didn't have as much time as I wanted to to mess around with it because I had to run off and travel on a trip but when I get back I will try to finish what I was doing. I tried a couple different vacuum pressures all the way down to 1 torr up to 20 torr and adjusted temp accordingly. It seems that at those pressures the product ends up in the vacuum pump. With vacuum so low I tried to use the coldest water possible and tried a short path distillation and a standard 300 mm condenser with ice cold water and also dipped The Collection flask in ice water once I realized the product was Vanishing. Maybe I am just missing something and it is walking a fine line to collect it properly. I have also tried this with multiple different ketones and same result.

3 filters is pointless though unless they are drastically different filter sizes. just slap one on there.

I use 3 filters but I stack a Fiberglass, cheap low MERV and a good high Merv, so The expensive filter doesn't clog up so quick. Cutting A 4th layer carbon filter mat is also used, When I see filters on sale I get them. Masking tape works fine, as I change them 2x a year.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already upgrade to a new shop filter, but I’m sure your tips will be useful for many ppl.

Doesn’t stacking three 1 inch filters make it harder on the fan making it less efficient?
@axchem22 Жыл бұрын
It does. But still powerful enough 😝
@infinit3isha Жыл бұрын
Yeah he should have def used the box design other have instead of just stacking. 3 filters is crazy restricting like that. An air filter is useless if its not flowing enough
@PPGDV Жыл бұрын
That’s worthless. Might as well just put cardboard over it. Inefficiency at its greatest.
@bigmikeobama5314 Жыл бұрын
not only does it filter less air because of the restriction, it doesnt filter any better than 1 filter would. this is a fail. he made sure to put stupid music over it to flaunt his failure though, so theres that
@AgentSmith-x9p Жыл бұрын
@@bigmikeobama5314 I got the same setup with just 1 filter and I can see major restrictions just from that, but the fact its now actually filtering the air makes it worth it 100%. I think they claim 1820 cfm out the box on max and with the filter i think I knocked a few hundred off at least lol. It does work though the rooms ive had it going the dust level is way down, plus I wonder yes the motor is working a bit harder with a slight less amount of cooling, BUT is saving the motor and less need to clean the fan components worth it? Ive seen so many fans burn out from dust, i feel like every fan should have some kind of filter on the intake side.
@ginoasci Жыл бұрын
good thought but the problem with the car jack is that it doesn’t hold the router in place. the vibration from the motor causes the big to move in all directions including up. do you notice that your cuts are not smooth at the tip ?
@axchem22 Жыл бұрын
I don’t have that problem. I used the plunge base of the router and screwed it to the table. The spring loaded plunge pushes down against the jack and keep it firms. I also used a piece of flooring carpet between the router head and jack to minimize the vibration.

@axchem223 жыл бұрын
I assume you trimmed the edge of bucket and still don't go together. Use a cutting knife and smooth the edges and remove any unevenness. they should go together with a bit of wiggling. You could also place the top bucket in a warm room to soften the plastic. I hope that helps.
