Swear I heard the sound of a rushing river through the woods yesterday when I was about 2/3rds down the trail going south on the west side. Was gonna go through the brush to investigate but I wasn't wearing a shirt and decided against it as bush was quite thick in that section. When I got home did a google map search and there's not only no river, but no creek or stream. Please don't have me killed if I just outed something I wasn't supposed to.

I'm really sure you can build it yourself. I did this 2 weeks ago thanks to the Woodprix plans.

Counterproductive to use refined sugar with such a nutritious herb.

I would like to know how to get to this sanctuary. The website has no directions nor can I find any anywhere else. I'm interested in taking photos of birds. It sounds like a great sanctuary.

Hi there, thanks so much for your interest! We have not posted directions or trail maps to our website as this land is not yet open to the public. We ask that people do not try to find it until it is as you must cross private land to access it. We hope to open it this spring. Keep an eye on our website and social media for our official opening announcement.

What a creative approach to clearly articulate how a land trust functions and the real costs of owning donated conservation land - love hte graphics

Update on trail conditions and such. Entry is a little wet/flooded in certain spots but with decent footwear you should have no problems using the primary trails. This was my first substantial trail hike through the area although I been keeping an eye from the road all winter. There has been absolutely no foot traffic nor snow shoe or cross country ski traffic all winter. There was absolutely no sign of snow mobiles. The trails are clear of snow. Some portions look as though some quads have followed the trails perhaps some people have permission to do so? All the fur tree seedlings planted inthe reclaimation areas are looking very healthy in there soak holes , that was a wonderful thing to see :) I also encountered a trail camera , I am the fella with the yellow grocery bag smiling. The reason I carry a yellow grocery bag is so that people can see me easier and also because as I walk the trails I pick up garbage. If I eat lunch out there no garbage gets left behind as the bag leaves with me. I also pick cans. Note.... There was absolutely no garbage to be found. I fell in love with the area I will be there hopefully on a weekly even daily basis , see ya all out there! Mark

Update* I drove by the Pipestone creek area 2 days ago and did not see any tracks leading in by anyone this winter. Never saw any snowmobile tracks but keep in mind I can not access the area full of snow still.

I live in the area and it took some time to find information.... When I discovered the sign a friend and I decided to take a walk down the trail it was in early fall. It was a nice area but we were unsure of where we could go and where we could not other than the fence that we followed. The entrance had no path leading in so we walked around the trees along the field. Now that I have a map of the area I grew curious... Can I ride a bike if I stay on the trail the entire time? I look forward to seeing this project get completed and am interested to volunteer as well. Cheers!

I am glad you were able to find the map and that you have been able to enjoy the Pipestone Creek Conservation Lands. It is a favourite of many hikers, snow shoers, and photographers! To protect the conservation values of this sensitive ecosystem, EALT allows low-impact recreation use, so unfortunately bicycles are not permitted. We invite you to volunteer by signing up at ealt.ca/volunteer/ or sending an email to [email protected]. Volunteers are at the heart of EALT’s accomplishments. Many volunteers have been involved with stewardship activities at Pipestone Creek, including tree and willow planting, weeding for wildlife, snow fence and sign installation, and monitoring. We would love to hear more feedback from you and welcome you to sign up as a local steward, to help us keep an eye on this natural gem.

Edmonton and Area Land Trust Hello! I would love to keep an eye out on the Pipestone Creek area I will contact you folks soon to sort it out. I know the park needs better entry there is a lot of deadfall in the first portion of the trail , my friend and I had to walk along side the farmer field to get in there without breaking a leg lol... The area is not super huge so on foot works for me , I am glad I can enjoy the area and keep an eye out to protect it and look forward to being known as a guardian of the area. I want to be out there all summer as much as I can , I grew up in the area and miss it out there...
