Hi Joanna, the tag is a faux leather tag I purchased from Amazon that can be personalized with logo and I put the tag on to hide the end of the rope…hth.. have a wonderful thanksgiving …thanks so much for watching.

@@lynngraffigna5152 I’m pretty sure that would work too Lynn. Chalk paint is supposed to stick to most surfaces but it could potentially wear off or maybe scrape off … give it a try and let us know . 😁😁😁.

Just a note, make sure the can is clean by wiping with alcohol first and you could even use a spray primer first…will help avoid chipping/ peeling

I've made one basket so far, using a different set of instructions. It turned out OK, but the sides are floppy and I'm not happy with how they look. Your method looks to be so much better. Going to make a second one now -- The "Kat" Basket. It will probably end up with a kitten sleeping in it.

I love the look of this! But i am curious as to what is the purpose of putting the joint compound on it first? Ive never seen that before & the frame turns out very nice so just curious😊

I think the joint compound gives it a more rustic look instead of being completely smooth so when you add the distress ink it grabs some of the raised areas again giving it a rustic look.

@@nancy-katharynmcgraw2669 Hi Nancy, I just start back a couple stitches , back stitch two stitches and continue forward… but I use a less than half bobbin when starting usually so then the thread back stitching is usually on the bottom and I then put in a full bobbin and most times it lasts me thru rest of basket. Thank you for this tutorial. I have just made two baskets and could not get vertical sides. I will try a bigger base, but I also notice in this video that you have a nested some baskets together, and the smaller ones also have vertical sides. I will want to learn how to make smaller baskets with vertical sides!

I do mention in the video where I purchase this rope and in description...if you are just starting out I would suggest a 6mm or 1/4 inch clothesline rope , a good thread, a heavy weight needle size 16. please watch my video on how to make a rope basket with straighter sides, (link to that is in this description) there you will find in description an amazon link to the clothesline rope I used. hth...thank you for watching

Great folio! I realize this video was dated a year ago, however I just saw it for the first time! So I paused this video where you stated the supplies and base measurements and promptly took some of the heavy card stock you referred to from Michaels, (because that’s what was close by)! Scored them, followed along with you for the rest of you video pausing it just long enough to spread my glue😊. 25 minutes later at the end of your 18 + minute video, I had completed the base! Thank you for making the well explained video tutorial… I certainly look forward to more of your tutorials, and now I will choose my designer series paper to complete it in the near future. 😊❤

@@vanessajackson5595 at least 50 feet… you can get 100 ft bundles but look at the link in description , you get over 300 ft I think for less than $20.00 …that what I used for this basket…have fun , also get some good thread, 40 Wt cotton or polyester

Allow yourself a bit extra for practice and know that not all clothes line rope is the same, some softer some have different core…but the one I use in video was my fav at that point in my basket making…u may have to experiment with different cords until I find one u like…happy basket making Vanessa!😁😁
