This course is 10 mins from my house!! It's a private club and I've always wanted to play it. I got my first chance in July for a scramble and we won it!! Driving into the venue you would never guess that such a nice course would be in the middle of the neighborhood that it is.

I like a members' club just as much as the next guy, but this is something I don't think I'd ever be comfortable doing once, let alone all the time. Impressive set up. Just not anywhere near my comfort zone.

Been using a 13 degree (now industry calls a mini driver) by mGolf since 2002. Called the Tour 13. Company is out of business and mostly in Europe. When I was in the industry and spending a lot of time there. Still have the ones made for me and they’re still the go to. Off the tee or the ground. Top 3 clubs in my bag.

I don't get this 'mini-driver' gimmick at all. I suspect it's happening because golf companies are seeing fewer and fewer of their super-high ticket drivers sold each new season... Hitting a 3W off the tee is NOT a novel concept...people have been doing it for years - particularly on days where the driver isn't cooperating. And - of course - the 3W is actually MEANT to be HIT OFF THE FAIRWAY...it does BOTH equally well, it's not like anyone markets a 3W as 'and you can ALSO hit it off the tee!'. Yet, that is exactly what's happening with these min-drivers...$450 and "you can ALSO hit them off the fairway!" - which I'm sure will take some getting used to for anyone whose actually tried hitting driver off the deck...it ain't easy. I can hit 3W off the fairway, mini-driver? I'm not so sure. A lot of hoopla over 20 extra yards and the potential for trouble

i picked up the Taylormade Mini BRNR back on christmas eve ( a lil xmass present for me ) and love it. I had been messing around with one in the simulator, probably since November, just to see if it was worth buying. And I finally pulled the trigger on it. i personally like the smaller head profile of the driver, and actually like using my normal 3 wood. i personally think if more people gave these Mini Driver's a chance, they'd like them better than their normal driver.

They should have shown a launch monitor and ball dispersion with the different heads imo.

Whatever, I like watching these videos - this guy, Rick Shiels, James Robinson, Peter Finch et al... but anyone coughing up $450+ for a driver - because these great golfers claim will turn you into a scratch golfer - is a gullible fool. Unless your physique, swing speed, tempo, mental game and dozen other factors that go into a golf swing is IDENTICAL to theirs - and it's NOT - you're wasting your money. Take if from a gullible fool who learned this the hard way. If you want/need a new driver, go to a golf shop with an outdoor range and hit as many balls as they'll allow with 3 or 4 different drivers. Pick the one you hit most consistently, but don't buy it. Grab 2 or 3 other drivers - compare those to the one you picked earlier. Narrow it down the one you are most confident hitting and buy that one. On a side note, the best club in my bag - by far - is my 3-hybrid. If it's a long straight par 5 - I'll hit driver - otherwise, I tend to stick with the 3H more and more...hitting that 230-240 straight is preferrable to 260 in the rough or woods or water or a bunker which tend to be placed exactly where average golfers will hit their drives. If the average par 4 is app 370 or so, if I can get out there 220 or 230 I've got an 7 or 8-iron in. I'm seeing more and more people doing away with the driver - and it's not just because they're ridiculously over-priced, it's because they're not necessary most of the time

You say you’d replace the 3 wood with the secret weapon for hitting off the deck. Granted the secret weapons numbers were great off the deck and equal to the 3 wood off the tee. However, you didn’t test the 3 wood off the deck to compare the numbers with the secret weapon - TEST FAILURE 🚫

Most people using a mini driver are replacing their 3 wood. Nice now that there are options, still think a full sized driver at 43.5” is the wa to go.

Thanks for the tips. I have always used the Plumb Bob Method, and I really love it...if it is a big break, I always find the highest point of the break and put to that. That helps with getting the speed right.

I love mini drivers. I like my Taylormade BRNR so much that I now have two of them. One of them is the 11.5° model lofted down to 10.5. And the other one is the 13.5° model lofted up to 15.5.

@jpdst29
@jpdst29 Күн бұрын
@@hellenyeller4751 Correct. I use the 10.5 degree one as my "driver" and the 15.5 degree one I use sort of like a 3 wood. They both work great off a tee and also off the deck. I find I have more consistency and better dispersion with them than a normal driver and 3 wood. It's definitely not ideal for everyone though.

This is where numbers can lie to you. The Secret weapon was Faster ball speed, lower spin, lower launch and it tied with the 3 wood that was going slower, hitting higher, and creating more spin???

I love the big deal being made about mini drivers. I remember my TM Burner Bubble 9* driver. 300 something ccs, 43 or 44 in. SHAFT. THE HEAD WAS CONSIDERED HUGE. NOW, BECAUSE THE INDUSTRY HAS MAXED OUT DRIVER BY PGA limits, all of a sudden the old drivers in a new package are a huge deal. We're all sucker's. 😊

I think if you look at the CoR and the forgiveness of your Burner 9 vs any mini driver you will see a massive drop off on shots not hit in the middle of the club.

Why wearing a glove? I have 1 or 2 and i never wear them, i don't see the neceesity. Should i wear 1? Is it going to improve my game? I have a better feel with no glove. I'm asking the the question because everyone wears one and not me

How did the 3 wood do off the deck? If it was similar to the secret weapon, and you own it already, then perhaps not need to upgrade. If you are looking to put a 3 wood in the bag, then maybe go for the PXG instead.

I randomly lost all my distance on my irons recently and the simple "hands" part of this sequence got me not only back in check but also hitting the nicest most effortless shots I've ever hit. I was clearly getting disconnected on EVERY shot and sometimes recovering it and sometimes not. Quite incredible really. I've seen FOUR coaches and this one sequence still has saved me. Thank you!!!

I bought the TaylorMade and haven't used my driver since. Carry it 250 ish so 15-20 yrds shorter than driver but 95% fairways rather than 65%. Most par 4s I play between 370-420 so always a nice full wedge or iron in. Handicap gone from 11 to 8.4. Par 5s you'd think would be the issue as now basically not making it, but scoring on them no worse and was always stretching to reach anyway

Circling back to this video after a year or so, I built a set of Miura CB302’s with the axiom 105 stiff. I ended up selling them within a few months and absolutely hated them. They were very dead feeling and had a very heavy natural swing weight of D6 or D7. It was perhaps the most dull golf club I had ever swung in my life. I went back to steel C tapers in a stiff, which believe it or not had much more feel to them. I’m having a 7 iron built currently with the axiom 75 stiff. It is going to swing weight around D1 or D2 and I’m very interested to see if it is more lively than the 105.

I bag a mini driver. It's a game changer. Just use the swing that you use with every other club. No needing to learn a totally different swing for only one club.
