"I say to you today" is a hebrew idiom used to express certainty.

Great job. I had to opportunity to visit that Church about 15 years ago. I thought it was in Valetta perhaps I am confusing another one of our churches. The Carmelite church with the dome? Is that Valetta or Sliema. In any event, Holy Week of 2002 was quite a wonderful experience in your country. Malta has a very unique grace and beauty all of its own.

Too fast for my taste which is a shame, Johns interpretation misses the mark, and is not very Handelesque, lots of wrong notes.

It seems to be a variation over BWV 636 . May be Mendelsohn had access to some of the Bach´s lost music?
@GregoravAasgard7 жыл бұрын
Aye, he had :)

Manzanog, not only had Mendelsshon access to Bach's works, but he did much for Bach's works to be rediscovered, when hé had St Matthew 's Passion played after having been forgotten for à century. In fact, Mendelsshon knew and loved Bach's music.

Vater unser im Himmelreich, what a beautiful rendition. Thank you so much for letting me listen to this exquisite piece of music.

Registration is good, but it would have been good, if the left hand would play legato. About the registration would have been better the following: The right hand has a Flöte 8' and Gedackt 8' or a Quintatön 8', an Octave 4' and a Sesquialtera 2x register, playing on Positivwerk. The right hand has for example a Gemshorn 8', or a Doppelflöte 8', or a Hohlflöte 8' register, playing on Hauptwerk. The pedal has a Subbass 16' register, and pedal-hauptwerk kopula.

Lolol meantone temperament. The organ is fantastic. Your ears just aren’t used to hearing thirds that are actually in tune (and the corresponding out of tune intervals)

There are some nice harmonic ideas here! Thank you for posting. But I cannot believe that the first church of the Maltese nation hasn't a proper pipe organ. Electronics organ will never replace real pipe organs, and this recording is a striking example! I hope that you will once get an instrument appropriate to the status and prestige of this cathedral.

For me, Johann S. Bach would always be the King of the King of all the other instruments. Another Bach we do not have, but we can say that on this island of Malta we have organists worthy of honor Bach as John Aquilina.
