I’ve been on the SRT extension into king of Prussia if that’s what you’re referring to (there are videos on the channel of it). I’ve also done the lower chapel trails on the other side of the RR tracks (videos of that too, but they were in terrible shape this year).
@BRIANDER10010 күн бұрын
have you ever rode the bike on the betzwood bridge ?
@Rodag00117 күн бұрын
Nice ride, I did this and Red Trail for a full loop around the lake this past fall but in the opposite direction. Kicked my butt, but I was on my Gravel Bike, looks like a much nicer ride on a MTB. :)
@bikemontcopa11 күн бұрын
Yeah the blue trail can be a bit much for a hard tail, esp depending on your tire setup.

Love your videos.
@ChrisHeerschap21 күн бұрын
Wow, big group on this ride! I prefer riding it in this direction but we have started doing it in the opposite direction. Changes up the challenges - the loose rocky climb up to the road crossing at the boat launch is really nasty in the other direction. Honestly there's a soul sucking climb any way you approach it!

Well that was pretty, I keep thinking about a fat bike for days like this.
@bikemontcopa27 күн бұрын
Fat bike will certainly do the trick. I was on my normal setup with Bontrager XR4 29 x 2.4. Can get a little squirrely but does the trick if you're not trying to set land speed records.

More intermediate. There are some easier trails but many tend to be quite rocky.

I bike here all the time, but never noticed the singletrack trails. Are they always overgrown, or are they occasionally maintained?
@bikemontcopa3 ай бұрын
Not sure. I’ve only ever been on those trails once. Based on what I saw I don’t think they’re ridden a lot, and it’s probably ad hoc maintenance by locals.
@jose6167820 күн бұрын
Awesome video! Nice to see the trails through someone else's eyes and I learned an entry to side by the apartments. As for maintaining, I think only the wildlife ever maintain it. Some of the riders clear the fallen trees as well.

1:01 I love that you left that in, in our minds we like to think our crashes look like something out of Red Bull Rampage or something Evel Knievel would be proud of but in reality most of the time they look like that...great, no nonsense video as always.
@bikemontcopa3 ай бұрын
Appreciate it. Yeah, I think its important that people can see a "normal rider" on trails which includes falls, getting hung up, and walking sections that are above the current skill level.

@bikemontcopa3 ай бұрын
It was incredibly dry, to the point of causing some problems. I had to do some extra speed checking on the downhills but it did make sections by the reservoir easier.
@rustychain95183 ай бұрын
Mt Penn can be tricky to navigate, when the leaves fall it gets more difficult to find your way around and to find a good line.
@bikemontcopa3 ай бұрын
Completely agree, though I think the same can be said for alot of trail systems. With that said, BAMBA and other volunteers do a great job of maintaining the more heavily used trails.

@bikemontcopa4 ай бұрын
Thank you. I tend to put those kinds of things in the descriptions. Mostly I just don’t care to spend the extra time for the additional recording and editing. This video is “bluish” because it’s the blue trail but not quite as I deviate onto other more interesting (to me) side trails.

@bikemontcopa9 ай бұрын
Thanks; I’d done the top half once before. This was my first run on the full length. Rolled most of the big stuff but the air will come with time. Need some experience on “smaller” features. I hear trexler might be the place for that. It’s on my todo list for this year. Also thanks on the climbing, I feel like it’s one of my strongest skills at this point.

Looks chunky! Are you able to ride most of the white trail without having walk sections?
@bikemontcopa9 ай бұрын
This was the first (and only time so far) I've been on the Wiss. I don't remember one section to the next very well. There was definitely lots of chunk on the majority of the trails. Generally speaking I tend to do well on techy climbs. Most of the stuff I walked was because I lost traction (probably from picking a bad line), and the grade is enough once you lose momentum you're toast. The flats and descents were all doable from what I remember outside of some things I couldn't see well enough to know the line (or couldn't tell if there was a blind drop). I tend to be over-cautious for safety as alot of trails are first time for me. I'm also solo 95% of the time, and I'm often riding when there aren't alot of other people around if something goes sideways.

I was sent a questionnaire about Mt Penn last fall asking for suggestions and my number one request was signage. I grew up on Mt Penn and still live on it but even I occasionally make a wrong turn and one wrong turn up there can lead to chaos...or at least some hike-a -bike.
