I bought this deck a year ago and it has been sitting on my shelf unused. Seeing your video prompted me to pull them out again. They are so beautiful and I really enjoy the guidebook, but I think I just forgot about them. Thank you for this reminder! That could actually be an interesting tag…decks that honor sacred sites or places of power.

I've really enjoyed seeing this part of your collection! The black shuck sold that deck to me too. I find it hard to keep decks in bags as I completely forget about them and I forget which is in which bag!

I feel like the universe is mocking me because I also have been wanting this deck so much but the shop is closed for summer and they won’t be open until mid August or so to even ask about the deck. I just hope I can manifest getting a copy of the deck and guidebook

O my heart, Sandra, you're making me tear up! I'm so happy to see this in your lovely hands. I'm also so pleased to have this deck in my collection as you know. We see things somewhat similarly! I think the lovers card clearly brings the devil image. If you think about the RWS devil and lover's cards, it makes sense to me as they are similar in composition. Plus getting entangled with a lover can be very devilish indeed! Haha I love the centers of so many of the cards being openings, or portals if you will. That's how I see them. Oh yes the books! Id like to aquire them eventually. Perhaps you and I can share fun stuff and epiphanies around the cards as we dive in! Enjoy it, my friend! Haha! Woman! You have grit to take on the pet sitting job. BEAUTIFUL! I would love to see a full walk through hearing your interpretation of the cards. Love the artistry! I would like to know the meaning of the small circles in some of the paintings.

Wonderful that you were able to get a copy of this deck. Really good of Kathy to have helped. Not sure what to make of this deck 🤔. It seems to have traditional elemental colour-coding in the suits. It would be interesting if that elemental mixing happens in the Major Arcana too, perhaps with astrological significance. Definitely a deck that might give over its secrets by meditating on it. Enjoy the pet sitting! I spent a summer once cat-sitting for the Cats Protection League, cycling about town feeding cats. Loved it.

I love this deck Sandra! I had the first edition published by Fulgur and I prefer this one - the booklet is much better. Two books I would recommend - Surreral Spaces The Life & Art of Leonora Carrington by Joanna Moorhead and also a ficition title called Alchemy of a Blackbird by Claire McMillan which is a wonderful tale of Leonora and Remedios Varo using tarot as part of the narrative, loved! 🥰

The Wise One in the Angels and Ancestors deck looks so much like my deceased mother. It's uncanny. When I first saw it and after I finally got over the shock, I sent a picture of it to my sister. She had the same reaction. I love this deck. All the cards are powerful. And there is my mom!

Glad you acquired this. I don't believe there is any information indicating she ever intended to have a deck published. She painted these canvases as studies of the Major Arcana archetypes (hence the image shapes on the cards), and only after her death was it decided by others to arrange this series of paintings into a tarot deck and publish it. The original published version had a book by Rachel Pollack, but it's out of print and near impossible to find now. I have a beautiful monograph of Leonora Carrington's work. She did some amazingly dreamlike and tortured paintings, very much haunted like Frida Kahlo, but in a more floaty wispy ghostlike manner. She also penned a couple of surrealist novels. I wanted to ask as you didn't mention, did yours come with an overpowering scent of lavender perfume? If not, they must have opted to do away with that. The aroma is quite strong (and a unique touch for a tarot package). I'm so dense sometimes, I saw that shape on the box over and over and never put it together that it was a C for Carrington. Perhaps when I opened my box it was upside down and looked more like a D. Other surrealists did tarot paintings as well. One of my favorites was Victor Brauner. There is yet to be a deck released of his depictions. This is not a favorite deck of mine, with some reservations, however, I do feel it is an important historic document worthy of a prominent place alongside others who were into mid-20th century spiritual investigation.

I am always drawn to the major arcana more in any deck. I don't know why that is. 🙃 I am still learning but often wonder if it is possible and would be successful to read the Majors only. What do you think? Your videos are always so calming and lovely xx
