Nice work frank on both parts. Curious I have about the same space as you do and I was wondering if you could share a track plan with me by chance. I am looking to see what the measurements are of your layout, what number turnouts you use and also what size radius curves you use. I run six axle locomotives as well and 89’ piggybacks and auto racks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work

If you run the cleaning car in front of the loco, would it work to clean track ahead of the loco? Reduce stalling?
@BoeingBigJet7 ай бұрын
@FredE528 yes it does...I do that sometimes to. I also will sandwich the cmx car between two locos at times. Just depends on how dirty the track is. Also ive move to mineral spirits instead of rubbing alcohol....works even better :)

Nice nice! 👍👍. At .28 secs into the video there are ‘big’ bins that the front end loader faces. These are not part of the ready mix kit from what I see on Walthers. Where did you get these?

@BoeingBigJet8 ай бұрын
No I don't but I think I bought them at home depot. They are heavy duty hinges I used on the drop gate. Swing gate hinges aren't as heavy duty but I think they are fence gate hinges

It's really a great job. Best weathered silos I've ever seen, indeed. May I ask you for an advice on weathering this kind of concrete silos ( colors, techniques, etc). They look REAL. Hats off...
@BoeingBigJet11 ай бұрын
I just used weathering powders, brushing and then spraying with dull coat in layers....

Thanks for the reply. You are very modest. Not only is the weathering of the silos impressive, but the plant is a marvel in itself. It deserves a 12 out of 10. I really like it a lot.

Nice job love the whole scene. Curious what thickness did u use for the concrete road way, what did u use to secure it down and last what is the size of the layout and radius on curves. I am asking cause I am in a garage as well.
@BoeingBigJet Жыл бұрын
Hi and ty .... my radius curves right there are 36...all curves on my layout are 36 to 42. The styrene is evergreen sheets .060 #9106. On this scene I just uses some regular white bathtub caulking spread out with putty knife but on my intermodal yard styrene I just used Elmer's and it worked fine

Due to limited space I have a dropped down leaf on my On30 layout. Just like a table with a drop down leaf. It is a curved leaf that contains the lobe to my turn back loop from the town to the yard. It has two pistons to keep it from slamming down. I use lag bolts to lock it in place and a single leg on the apex of the curve. I have three turnouts on the dropped down leaf with Tortoise switch machines. Power gets out there with Anderson Power Pole connectors. I am assigned the bonus room for my mancave, which is also the only way out to the backyard. So, when not in use, it is down. When in use, one can duck under, but it is 4 feet across there. It works just fine.
