What is the small hose from the rear?? Does this cause condensation in the heads?

I have been working on this bike all day and the wife is getting pissed. I pulled apart to do the valves shims. the crankcase breather hose that is the middle hose on the airbox where the hell does that go?? Does it just not go to anything? I cant tell there was a little clip on there but I've looked everywhere. I've scoured the internet and the manual and cannot find. any help would be great. I know where it connects to the airbox I just don't know where it's supposed to connect from there. Anyone that can help would be much appreciated.

What does enlarging that air hole do for the bike exactly ? Looks like maybe increase the throttle response?

Shims don't do anything if they're put on top of the c-clip. Shims are meant to go on the bottom to raise the needle and allow more fuel through.
@shawndaniels2846
@shawndaniels2846 4 ай бұрын
Shims on top of the needle are by instruction from the manufacturer. The only reason to use one below is to raise the needle 1/2 step between the adjustments.

Thank you so much for the video. I have a 97 vulcan 800 Clissic, my first bike. She wasn't properly taken care of by her previous owners, I've had to do a lot of maintance. Unfortunately no one in my area will work on the bike so now I'm teaching myself. My bike has over 37,000 miles on it, 5,400 I put on this season and it developed what I'll discribe as a clanging noise. I think I found my problem. Thanks again!

Upsss!!!, A PCV Valve, !!! Ok. Bay

@MrTravlinman1973 Жыл бұрын
I would have drilled a 2nd hole beside the original hole instead of making the hole bigger. That way it is reversible . If you have any issues you can fill the 2nd hole with rtv silicone and back to original..

Doesn’t make sense. If it’s attached to air intake, how is it recirculating exhaust? It is there for efficiency. The only real benefit in removing it seems to be aesthetics.

This is not egr or pcv this is PAIR valve that takes fresh filtered air from air box and gives it to exhaust for un burnt fuel. It doesn’t increase/decrease performance but it helps environment by not letting carbon monoxide gas out

Just goes to show you how stupid people are, as they tell you how great this video was, when in fact it was like watching A Charlie Chaplin movie from 1932. You showed absolutely nothing, as a Master mechanic I can honestly say this was about as useless as tits on a bull. You showed your viewers nothing but high speed disassemble. Hopefully you're not working on other people's bikes because I seen many things that were absolutely ridiculous that you did.

@@willsrestorations naw my boy i got a HD for sure….if i could post a pic I would. My son has a 97 Vulcan which was why we were looking at this. I believe there to be very minimal, if any, drawbacks to doing this.
@willsrestorations
@willsrestorations 2 жыл бұрын
@@keithk7451 that's because you're not mechanically inclined or just making foolish statements or uneducated statements. You don't see any real disadvantages to doing this because you don't know any better. But you go ahead and do this to your son's bike and you'll find out first hand. There's always some goofball on KZbin showing you how to do something that will destroy your vehicle or motorcycle and this is a clear example of one. This will also cause the reeds in the valve covers to become sooted up with a lot of carbon and cause them to no longer work which is a serious issue. But hey you continue believing what you want even if it is defective thinking. It's nice to know you have a Harley-Davidson where every single part was manufactured in China.
@willsrestorations
@willsrestorations Жыл бұрын
@@keithk7451 did you just brag about having a Harley-Davidson Chinese piece of junk. Every bolt rots out after 3 years. Nothing but a hunk a junk. I love how people claim that it's made in America when absolutely not one component of a Harley-Davidson was ever manufactured in the United States and all the parts come from China. Obviously you're not a mechanic so you saying that there's minimal drawbacks doesn't really hold any water because there are serious drawbacks to doing something like this as now the reeds Will not be able to operate properly and you will cause major problems with the motor by doing this ridiculous modification which does nothing but damage and has no upside.

My 2001 VN800 did this at 24,000 miles. I never went more than 5,000 miles between valve adjustments. The bike ran great until the moment the exhaust valve snapped. I suspect it was caused by the aftermarket exhaust, although I never noticed the bike running hot.
