No upgrades, it’s ok for general riding. Obviously don’t want to take it on a track or do anything high speed in whoops or chops. It could probably be made pretty good with a revalve and being sprung for weight

There’s no perfect answer, whatever your bike needs for your location

It looks better for sure, most of these boxes aren’t really worth, since they’re a company trying to make a dollar too

It’s a lot of fun, it’s probably not something I’d want to do all day long but a couple hour ride is a blast

I bought this before the 22 race editions were out. I think they’re a great value for the minimal up charge from the RR

Beta offers a lowering kit in increments of 1" and 2". I would go that route before messing with the linkage. The linkage will effect the geometry of the bike. I'm not sure the suspension kit effects the geometry, but it will have less travel.

@@DerekEvilsizor It’s my wife’s but I ride it from time to time as a back up. I’m taller at 6’ but it’s still a hoot to ride, it feels like a tractor in a smaller bike frame. It lacks at speed in the suspension department but if that’s your thing it can be improved.

Im 6’ but I own both and they’re both great machines. 36 years old.

I’m 62 5’7” want to motocrosser from the ‘70s. I now ride in the woods with the family. My daughter has ‘21 Xtrainer l’ve never been so comfortable on bike and the motor is amazing, but I’m worried the suspension even with mods won’t be good enough when I go fast with the guys. Even sitting on the 300rr it doesn’t seem to fit me as well, and I’m concerned it won’t have the natural feeling handling of the Xtrainer.

I meant to add any thoughts you can give would be appreciated. I have watched all of your videos on the two bikes.

@@dannyrobinson7509 Comfort is important to having fun on the bike, if you’re more comfortable on the XTrainer you can always throw money at suspension to ride faster

You seemed to not like the 300 that much at first. Did you ever feel as comfortable on it as the Xtrainer?

@@stillcantride7159 yeah, few hundred more bucks just for new graphics and I miss the free recreational registration for where I live (get that with the 22) pretty happy because I don’t plan on selling it for a few years so it doesn’t really matter

I eventually sprung for my weight, which ended up being 2 rates up at 190lbs in street before gear. I may explore valving when it’s time for a rebuild

I’m 6’ but my wife is 5,5, this is her bike.

I'm 5'5" , 28 inch inseam (no shoes). I have a 2017 Xtrainer 300. The original bike is too tall for me, no dab, no one foot, just too tall. I have the Seat Concepts low OE width (not the comfort low seat - it is WIDER). The Seat Concepts low seat is only 3/4" lower than stock at the lowest point. I have also had my shock lowered 2 inches internally (Delrin spacer), which also removes 2 inches of travel ( from 10.6 to 8.6 actual). Plus added a shock spring suitable for my weight and the reduced stravel (higher spring rate). I have also raised the fork in the triples to max (30mm) I have the original fork travel there, I need it to hit obstacles. This somewhat balances the geometry closer to stock. Overall my Xtrainer seat is about 2 inches lower than stock. I've been playing with the idea of modifying the subframe somehow to lower the seat height further, and maybe even making my own seat pan from ABS and heat gun, minimal padding like a trials seat. I wear padded bike shorts anyway. Anyway do whatever you can to make a bike comfortable/safe enough that you could easily dab in hard terrain. Getting both balls of the feet on the ground on a lever surface is ideal.
