Seems like a lot of those trees are right on the trail. Heard what sounded like you whacking your bars a lot. Anyone know if this is still the case in 2024?

The trail layout got a substantial reroute two years ago. To answer your question first, the tight sections have been widened. Portions of the trail as depicted in the video are also now ridden in the opposite direction, and the bridge across the swamp has been eliminated.

There's a fence now below the High Level Bridge! When I was 12 (in summer, 1963) my friend Kenny and I climbed the girders under the bridge to the highest point, and ate a sack lunch we had brought with us. . . I still shudder thinking what might might have happened 😱

The falls you showed in the video are not the actual "Dundee Falls". They are way up stream from where you were and are much bigger and taller. There is a separate (smaller) parking lot on Camp Rd. It is the quickest way to get to them.

Thanks for the info. We'll have to check out the bigger falls.

I am not local to the area, but I am getting portraits taken at this park. Is there any way you could tell me where the notable spots are located? Specifically looking for where the stone archway and the wishing well are located in the park.
@NortheastOhioHikesandBikes Жыл бұрын
When you enter into the park, you'll drive past the mountain biking trailhead. The next left will take you to a lot near the pond. There are two other lots not far down the road that are across from one another. The lot on the left provides access to a picnic area and open area. The lot on the right is a trailhead for a hiking only trail. The main road dead ends into a lot near the old farmhouse. That's where the garden, stone archway, wishing well, and access to more hiking only trailheads are.

@NortheastOhioHikesandBikes3 жыл бұрын
It was one of our favorites during our last trip out west. We hope to ride it again. Wish we had time to ride some of the other trails in the area. Any suggestions?
@lsbigworld66723 жыл бұрын
@@NortheastOhioHikesandBikes there's some trails that start at the foot near the town of Big Horn (11 miles southwest of Sheridan) and they are fucking hard. It's almost straight up and downright intimidating. You go up 75% grades the whole way, around 8,500 feet from the start. The plus is that once you get up there, there isn't many hills and it's a beautiful ride. You have not seen true beauty until you've been in the very depths of the forest in the cloud peak wilderness. It's 1000% worth it and such an amazing ride, it's really a bucket list thing that I would do again a thousand times over. Getting back down can be tricky though. You have a couple options going down. You can join onto the state freeway and go down 40% grades to the town of Dayton or go all the way across the bighorns to greybull. The trails going back to bighorn are near impossible to ride down due to their insane grades which never flatten out for the entire 8500, constant switchbacks, and the same conditions as the clear creek ride but at insane speed. Only bike down our mountains if you can ride 60 mph over a washed out dirt road on a road bike without speed or danger even slightly popping into your mind, and with no accidents. You could also go on some other trails to back over near buffalo and go down crazy woman canyon or clear creek canyon like you did here. That would be the best option, especially if you pack a lot of gear.

I moved to Cleveland in 2004 and lived there until my wife and I moved to Florida in 2009. The biggest and most pleasant surpise were the beautiful metro parks in Cleveland. You can be driving down a city street and take a left and you are in the most lush forest with rivers, hills, trees, picnic areas and sports fields. I loved Cleveland and always tell peopl ehow beautiful it is.

Hello there I was just wondering why you climbed up the middle of the rocks to get to Mary Campbell's cave instead of taking the path? I thought that the reason that you're supposed to stay on the trails in the gorge is because going off trail causes erosion and damage to the hiking trails?
@NortheastOhioHikesandBikes3 жыл бұрын
As far back as I can remember, that section of trail hasn't had any markers indicating a route that hikers must take, so people climb around on them. A rock scramble won't cause erosion, as there's no loose sediment to erode. Additionally, the well preserved carvings in the rock by 19th & early 20th century visitors is good indication that the rock is pretty resilient.

There are also trails on the other side of the creek and near the campground, notably Overlook, Vondergreen, Salamander, Dogwood, and Pine Ridge. I hope you get out to enjoy those trails soon.
