It used to be a good and lively village but has gone down hill over the years priced out of the pubs by the brewery's greed,we no longer have proper post office and the nearest cash machine are at least 7 miles away, at Christmas you used to have carol singers, hand bell ringers and the salvation army come around they where replaced by a awful racket of cd player on the back of a sleigh,

I remember the bridge being taken down when I was a small child. My grandfather had previously worked at Gnosall station before moving to English Electric in Stafford.

I used the line from Shrewsbury to Stafford often in the early sixties... Dirty steam trains, and old decrepit rolling stock... Shame to see the link go...

Hi Bob, I have established my family lineage back to 1570, being descended from Joseph John Blackman(Blakeman), who also had a son Aaron, who was an important figure in his time. You seem to have more historical information than anyone on Gnosall, and I wonder if you could provide any info you may have concerning my family history. Thank you.

As a young child, I remember visiting friends in Willey Lane, and waving to the trains. My hometown is Stafford.
