John William Carson (Corning, Iowa; 23 de octubre de 1925 - West Hollywood, California; 23 de enero de 2005) fue un presentador, comediante, escritor y productor de televisión estadounidense.

Mr. Carson's mother was a domineering, cold bitch, who said "boys are dirty." She never appreciated his talent, and treated him cruelly as a child. His close friend, Burt Reynolds, said: “Throughout her life she never expressed pride in his accomplishments.“ A reporter once got the idea to watch The Tonight Show with Ruth to get the proud mother’s reaction. After silently frowning all through the monologue, she said, ‘That wasn’t funny’, and left the room.” No wonder Mr. Carson had relationship problems. He didn't attend her funeral -- that's how bitter he was to her. Factoid: Ben Franklin didn't want the Eagle to be the national bird. Franklin wrote that the “Bald Eagle...is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly…[he] is too lazy to fish for himself. He said: ”The Turkey is “... a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America...He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage.”

I was about 6,7 years old and my dad gave me the chore of going to chicken coop to get the eggs and feed the chickens and keep the coop clean we lived on a small farm cows pigs horses and so I went to chicken coop to get eggs but every time I would open the door there was a chicken that would attack me and hurt me I finally told dad I didn’t want to do it any more he asked why I told him and he said to me you are bigger then that chicken and you get a stick and next time you go in there you let that chicken know you are going to teach him a lesson. So I got a good strong stick and still a little afraid I went in that chicken flew at me and I clubbed him he feel to floor and came at me again so I hit him again he was dazed but now I felt big and hit him a couple more times I been saying him but it was a chicken female her when I walked out I told her I’ll be back you fly at me again it will be worse. Yes sir I was proud I beat that chicken up my dad ask me if I was having trouble with that chicken yet I SAID NO SIR DAD THAT CHICKEN IS SCARED OF ME. Dad said that’s good son

One of the things I always looked forward to become an adult was being able to watch Johnny Carson. I was never allowed to stay up that late while at my parents, but I could hear my parents watching the show inside their bedroom at night, which was directly next to my bedroom!!

The dialog was so amazing and funny,not just because it was completely unscripted, but it was because there were two very smart, very talented people, who were just naturally funny and immensely talented. You don't see ANY of this any more. Just tremendous talent, with no vulgarity, no scandalous behavior, no foul language, who can entertain millions of people just speaking off-the-cuff, about routine daily events. We won't see talent like this ever again.

Thanks on the comment. This was all shot on a cell phone. The time span covers about four hours. The antenna worked great, would have made more contacts with more power, but oh well. Weather was warm-ish, but it was windy all afternoon. We quit not long before sunset, there was a strong cold front on its way later that evening. The tent was great, but we didn't plan to be out all night. 73 de N5NUK.

Looks like a fine time! I did my first WFD this year in SD. To cold for me so I rented a cabin. Blew my qrp status by forgetting to turn my power back on ssb to cw on my kx2. Still happy with my 60 contacts. Might get one of those ice fishing tents like you have. I was 0°f this year.

Just FYI...the tent cost around $400, and that was with a 20% military discount. The one who owns it is the ham doing most of the contacting.

I know this clip is really about Buddy Rich, an ICON in his own right, but growing up for me, playing the drums, I was always amazed at Ed Shaugnessey on that big double bass drum set with the Tonight Show Orchestra. Ed was playing the huge set long before the hair bands and metal bands of the 80s made it a hard rock staple. I love the 80s rock and will always have Ed in my memories as one of the inspirations to play, and to still be playing all these years later.
@douglasjohnson5326 Жыл бұрын
The greatest drum battles ever were between Buddy Rich and Ed Shaughnessy in my opinion. They were very close friends as well, which made them really fun to watch! Ed was an absolute master on the drums.
@HMMELD Жыл бұрын
Buddy sure could play that thing - I was amazed. I wonder how much was improvised. I'm sure Ed wouldn't easily let just anybody borrow his drum set.
