This aired immediately after Bing Crosby's Christmas special on the same network on 12/14/71, hence the opening bit. Bing always closed his annual specials with, of course, White Christmas so they were going for continuity, making as if Andy was sitting watching the ending of Bing's special on TV before beginning his own. Incidentally, Nick Perito was a dear friend of mine and he told me in 1971 he was the "King of Christmas". Asking what he meant, he said he was the music director for all three Christmas specials that year: Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and Perry Como!

Andy says at the end of the show he'll be back December 31st so apparently there was no show on 12/17 or 12/24. Perhaps things were a bit more subdued Christmas-wise on purpose, this being only about 2 weeks since the events of 11/22/63. It wasn't a very festive season for many still grieving his loss.

I remember this commercial well--Mark sang on others too. Santa never brought me a new Yamaha. He did bring me Paul Revere and the Raiders albums--a safer option for a seven-year-old.

So, this show was a "thing" back in the 70's?? I like watching old retro shows from that era, but I must say, the Sonny & Cher Shows are by far the most corny, cheesy, god-awful shows I have ever seen. And for some reason, I love it! But, I HATE it! But.....I looooove it!

I remember when I was a 7 year old girl watching the Sonny & Cher show I adored that show, and to my surprise in this Christmas 🎁 show I saw that " bugs Bunny" stuffed 🧸 toy on the shelf when William Conrad first was performing, I couldn't believe it! Because I remember I did get that bugs Bunny 🐰 doll that Christmas 🎄🎁🐰 I absolutely loved that stuffed bugs Bunny and it talked too❗ lol 😆 I think when you squeezed the carrot 🥕 piece it talked like certain phrases bugs Bunny made ohh whatta happy Christmas 🎄🎁 I had as a kid, loved this era in life wish I could rewind the decades back to the late 1960s & and early 70s glad I was born in 1965🩷💕🕊️

Andy, what a wonderful show that was then and all your other family TV shows you put on. They were wonderful music to sing, dance to, or listen to in our easy chairs. Glad the Williams brothers were on and the harmony, that you folks Were outstanding . We were blasted also that you came from all like, Iowa; so, We are Iowa,, proud. I can imagine all the music you are singing and playing in heaven together again. Thank you to the person who got this together and made it available to us all. Betty Gordon, Iowa

These christmas shows were very well scripted and choreographed with warmth and humor. Lots of american families probably spent quality time with their young children in snow and backyard playing happily. These are very good shows even today.
