Amazing job! What was the experience like for the guy with a katana facing a longer blade? I usually fight with a bastard sword that has an 80cm blade and I would love to know the perspective of another fighter in a situation against an opponent with more reach.

Guy with katana speaking, it's genuinely not that bad! Though I must point out that there is a distinct difference when fencing someone with a slight reach advantage (like in this case) or when fencing someone with a massive reach advantage like a feder. This may be an artefact of me having continuously practiced at a constant reach disadvantage for the past few months, but I genuinely do not find it *that* difficult to overcome in the context of a katana v longsword (if its a longsword). Then again, the style and leaning of the katana tends for it to go very deep in and make dedicated, committed strikes that nullifies that range difference. Let me know if you have any questions!

Would be nice to add explanation for us amateurs and plebs , besides getting who's holding the katana and the long sword I don't get what s happening . Oh and also the sound makes it feels it takes place next to a nice café

😂😂😂😂 We practice at a park! So it absolutely is a lovely vibe, very chill and relax swordfighting cafe kinda vibe. This is definitely more “sparring footage” than an educational vid for HEMA though, if you have any questions lmk! (I’m the katana guy)

@salex354 oh ok cool , it's nice to watch but I have no idea what are the rules and stances which look different, I m just a random pleb that find it really cool .

@ it’s a simulation of fighting so, if the blade touches you at any decent speed or you get poked, thats a hit! If you find it cool, there’s no reason you yourself cant join HEMA :)

That stick will definitely not hit 3 guys in 3 seconds if they are trying to kill them, but it's just for fun and we are not trying to kill people so.

we were 100% focused on dealing with the vikings with shields, and didn't even notice each other get picked off the stick is also simulated naginata, so it would be bladed; definitely kill shots

Guy in white: I am slightly worried about your back foot toe pointing in a different direction from your knee. As I understand it, that risks breaking something. It might just be a trick of the camera angle or shoe size though.
