This doesn't cover number lines that also include a year. I've seen number lines like this: 98 99 00 01 02 5 4 3 2 1 where the first set of numbers represent the year and the second the printing, and there you need to make sure the earliest year printed is the year the cook was first printed.

I know you might not see this but do most books have first edition under the number line, I’m trying get a newer Stephen king book and any help would be truly appreciated

@@vinnieemery7761 Generally, a lot of books will qualify as first edition so just seeing that is not super important. A new edition usually has significant changes to the book and each edition tends to cover multiple printings of a book. If you are looking at collectibility, the first printing of the first edition is usually the most valuable. Later printings of a first edition tend to not have additional value on their own above cover price.

Never really explains what a number line REALLY is....I mean, why stick a whole bunch of numbers together? She also only touches on the fact that the "1" of a first edition can be ANYWHERE in the line. I give this video a C+.

First edition but third printing. First edition first printings are generally the most collectible.

I have a harry potter and the order of the phoenix book. The only numbers it says are 70,69,68,21,22,23? And there's a big gap between the 68 and the 21? AS WELL AS my book is a misprint, it is missing pages 687-718, then it has pages 719-750 printed twice? HELP PLEASE???

What if you have a numerline 10-1 and then it has 15-19? It's also a first illustration

I'm not sure but I think in that case the double digit numbers represent the years and the single digit numbers the printing number. In that case, in order to get a first edition first printing, you need to make sure the lowest year in the line matches the year the first edition was printed, and the line includes "1" in the printing part of the number line.

Thank you so much, I definitely found this useful as I am trying to make sure that books I own are entered properly into a "library tracker." If you have any suggestions or videos on the best tools to use to keep track of a book collection would be interested in that as well.

Hello, your video has been really helpful, however I've run into books that do not follow the number line convention that you've covered in this video. Example, "10 9/9 0/0 1 2 3 4" Is this a 1st print or a 10th print? Also do you know what the 9/9 and/or 0/0 mean?

Excellent series. I am not intentionally collecting books for collecting, but I have 10,000 and am in the process of putting them into the CLZ database. This series helps me understand the fields to fill in on the software. thank you for making things clear.

When I was in school, I had a librarian who was very insistent that anyone who came upon a new book in the library, should properly “season” that new book, by carefully placing the book flat on the table, then taking a few pages from first one one side of the book and rubbing the pages open, then flipping the book to the back and taking a few pages, rub those pages open. You were supposed to go back and forth from front to back always taking a few more pages,until you met in the middle of the book, thereby slowly opening up the spine or seasoning the book. This we were told, evenly broke open the spine, and kept the pages from falling out. We were NEVER to take a book, halve the pages and bend the book backward. (I hope I’ve explained adequately what I mean. I can visualize Mrs. Burton, the librarian showing us what to do, but it’s hard to explain it in writing.) Have you ever heard of this technique, and do you think it’s a good thing to do? I’ve been faithfully seasoning my books for 50 years, but I have a book lover friend who barely opens hers when she reads them so that the spines don’t crack who is horrified!

I have heard of this but I don’t do it myself. I have a dedicated reading copy for each book that I’m ok if it gets a bit worn in.

Do you know if prime is a standalone or thuse it have an inconclusive ending? Is it good? (Please like my coment so i can see your answer, i ther wise i wont be alerted)
@StarspangledHeart
@StarspangledHeart Жыл бұрын
It is not a stand alone. Sanderson always planned for this story to be a series. Prime is more of an alternate reality version of The Way of Kings. It’s not nearly as good as his published works and will not be getting any sequels. Unless you are a super fan, it’s not a must read.

Yes, I can share what has worked for me. I will use a hair net or scarf to keep the curls close to my head while I sleep and I will also cover my hair while I shower to protect it from the humidity. Some things I’ve picked up since I made this video that help with longevity are to use the right products while setting my hair (Lottabody setting lotion is my go to) and to leave my set in for a long time (18-24 hrs). The day I’m setting my hair, I’ll just go out with a cute scarf over my hair. I will also sometimes reroll my hair into dry pin curls over night to add a bit of extra bounce back into my hair. It took quite a bit of trial and error but I’ve been able to get my set to last up to 6 days. I will also recommend checking out The Glambassador here on KZbin. She has some amazing in-depth videos on wet sets and maintaining your style throughout the week. She has a very different hair type from me but I was still able to pick up a few things from her that really helped! Pin curls take a lot of practice so keep at it.

Book Depository is a great place to look for international editions. They usually have loads of UK editions in stock. I’ve also gotten some from Amazon (US) before. You can search by isbn or click through all of the format options under the US edition page and sometimes the UK edition pops up.

It’s just the cover. The text is centered normally but there is one section of pages that is a slightly different color than the rest. It must have come from a different lot of paper or something.
