Chemigation is Always cool- I'm a fan of run to waste hydroponics, abd lean towards just a 50 gallon drum and small electric pump, plus hose. Garden siphon can be tough to properly calibrate, especially with multiple product applications.

barbados cherry if you're in a hot climate. might not be in the same league as some of the others but they're pretty good producers in zone9

I have the worst luck with peaches. Every year, it's like a war to get fruit. Peach leaf curl, early frosts that decimate my blossoms, deer, etc. 3 years... 2 trees... 30 peaches. I'll work with them for another couple years and then I'm chopping them down and just buying my peaches from the local orchard.

Pawpaws are the longest to start fruiting from everything I’ve grown. I’ve had my 4 pawpaws grown from seed many years and they still haven’t made a fruit. I’m in a bad location for them though. Texas, hot and dry and sand. Without supplemental watering they’d never survive here. I had 7 and 3 have died. I’ve always wanted to taste one. Mine are grown from seeds from Jerry Leimans cultivars so they should be good.

Some people don’t like them. And I don’t think they’re the most amazing fruit ever. But they aren’t known and it’s an option for a rare fruiting plant.
@baneverything5580Күн бұрын
Figs and Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry produce very rapidly. I`ve planted 7 fig trees and 4 mulberry in two years. They grow ridiculously fast in Louisiana. I planted peach seeds but nothing happened. Probably imported and irradiated. You can force fruiting on dwarf mulberry by cutting branches back by half and stripping the leaves off a few to trick the tree.

I don't see an air vent? Should i not create holes then🤔 thanks btw i was following kinda different method and successfully managed to propagate apricot cuttings...hope this one work faster and better success percentage
@PlantFanaticsКүн бұрын
You can definitely add some holes for ventilation. I don’t, but I’m also pretty good at adding the exact right amount of moisture at this point.

I'm trying to develop a new pawpaw variety with superior fruit. How many pawpaw seedlings, do you suppose, are needed before I have a 50% chance of successfully developing a new variety with superior fruit? 100 seedlings, 1000, 10k, or more? I'm starting with seeds that were cross pollinated from cultivars with superior fruit themselves in an attempt to help the odds.

You didn't mention lighting but I see you have lights directly above the totes, is that necessary or just for getting better video? I have mine in a closet right now so zero light and the only one that looks like garbage was the terminal most piece with a little bit of leaf in tact.

It’s a great idea, but it’s also important to mention that soil for propagation of cutting needs to be mainly or all inorganic soil that retains both water and air, such as perlite, vermiculite, expanded shale or expanded cray. I also like mixing sphagnum moss, which seems anti-mold and anti-fungal.
@calculatedrush2 күн бұрын
How much sand are you using? I might be using more than I should be

This method resulted in a 50% loss before I rescued them and potted them up in sand individually. I washed them with soap and a clean sponge before putting them in the tote. I don't know how you do it, Chad, but this doesn't work for everyone. I emulated your method exactly minus the rooting hormone.
@PlantFanatics2 күн бұрын
I was very confused until I saw no rooting hormone. That’s a very big deal, and one that I always recommend to anyone propagating cuttings. I know some people don’t like them, but your success rate will significantly decrease.
@PlantFanatics2 күн бұрын
When trying to understand propagation, always watch those who have to be successful to put food on the table. No propagation nursery would ever stick a cutting in a rooting medium without adding hormone. You can get by with a bunch of cuttings and no hormone. But for great success, consider purchasing a high quality hormone.

@@PlantFanatics Chad, can you do a video that goes step by step on propagating, including the sand , hormones etc. please 🙏🏾, I would really appreciate it, I’m a gardening enthusiast, and I would love to learn this exact technique 💯

I feel like this still wasnt clear- the wasps YES are composted within the fig by that mentioned enzyme (ficin). However only a few species of fig pollinate via wasps, commercial figs have been modified so as to self pollinate (:

I am very envious of your new greenhouse with all the technology, its great set up. I agree with you on growing tropical fruit from seed it is a fun thing to do. Your 4 year old guava will probably flower and fruit its a good size. I am in the UK 🇬🇧 ive got seedlings of Mango Jackfruit Guava and Atemoya all crammed into my bathroom 😅

I'm interested in growing a potted fig tree, I live in zone 5 with an unheated garage, traditionally our temps in winter are between 10° and 30°, with Jan and Feb going below zero frequently.... Should I store indoor instead?

My mom bought a aloe vera a few years ago. I neglected it cuz I had no plant interest at that time but now. It is grown WILD and VERY BIG
@rishtunkhwa89905 күн бұрын
In view of northern USA states and Canada, our idea of "cold Hardy" trees could be misleading if you include "figs" in your list of Cold Hardy plants. Fig trees cannot survive in Zone 5. It need elaborate insulation around the tree if left in the open during the winter.

@crwjhr5 күн бұрын
I watched all 3 videos which was great. Quick question: when I do lemon seeds in paper towel and baggie, I then hang them in a sunny window for 2-3weeks. Can I ask why you put these in a dark cupboard as opposed to the sun? I mean obviously it worked, but just wondering…
@crwjhr5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the video. This is great. I’m just prepping my seeds now. Note that why Paw Paw gets confused with Papaya is because is some regions, such as many African countries, papaya is called a Paw Paw.

I live in the panhandle of Florida. In mid August my potted Meyer lemon tree dropped ALL it's leaves. Im not sure what to do. We get rain, I've fertilized it, and it's in a sunny spot. It's potted in a ceramic planter with a nickel sized drainage hole. Maybe i need to switch the pot?
