Don't make motels like they used to. I miss the unique retro look of old hotels.

Actually Blasingame had a poor season in 1961 and as a result he was platooned with Elio Chacon. The 1961 Reds went against tradition by platooning at second base, shortstop( Eddie Kasko and Chico Cardenas) and catcher( Bob Schmidt, Jerry Zimmerman, Chris Cannizaro and Johnny Edwards). So much for consistency and strength up the middle .

What's crazy is those old buses were built so tough. they probably only had to re-bolt the differential and lines/hoses plus a little body/lead work, and it was back up and running in no time.

We were tent camping at Virginia Beach for this one. Midwestern folks, didn’t know better 🤓. Hurricane blew in late at night. Tent was damaged, we packed up at first light while the hurricane pelted us with heavy rain. Great times…

Frank Beamer attended high school in Hillsville, Virginia, and earned 11 varsity letters in three different sports: football, basketball, and baseball. In 1966, he attended Virginia Tech and played football. He was a starting cornerback for 3 years, playing in the 1966 and 1968 Liberty Bowls.

In October 1966 against a ranked Florida State team Frank Loria returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown that would prove to be significant in a 23-21 Virginia Tech victory. Loria also made the game deciding 4th down tackle on a FSU running back on the goal line.

As far as I know there is no audio for this. You can check with the UVA Library ( search.lib.virginia.edu/sources/uva_library/items/uva-lib:2354874 ) as they saved these films from being trashed.

That game was played on November 16, not the 19th. November 19 fell on Tuesday in1968; it was my twelfth birthday.

Revealing The Name Of The Race Winner In The Title Of The Video RUINS The Fun Of WATCHING The Video. I Think That's Why Fans Of Classic / Vintage Films Have For Decades Referred To The Practice As A "SPOILER" 👀. I Suppose The Only Insurance Against Such Careless Practice Is To Block Recommendations For Videos From Such Reckless Channels. I'm Going To Start Testing My Theory Right Now 👀.

I am almost crying watching this. The first race i ever attended with my late grandfather and i got to see my favorite driver (buddy baker) take the checkered flag (only his second win at the time) I was the wettest but happiest 8 year old in the stands, but i never thought I would EVER see footage of the race (mostly because of the rain shortening) 50+ years later and looks just like it was yesterday. I can confidently say this is probably the best 1 minute and 29 seconds ive ever spent watching a KZbin video. Pure joy 100 percent for me! All i can say, is thank you, Have a blessed day.
