This was beautiful to watch! My Granny, who’s 105, has been living in a nursing home, and we document her humor and wisdom. It’s amazing how these videos can connect us.

My wife's mother had dementia and passed away about 10 years ago, she was in a home, her 5 kids hired 2 nurses to split a day shift to be with her at the nursing home during the day, all the kids agreed to spend the money to make her comfortable and taken care of. I promised my wife, that if God forbid she becomes ill with the same disease, I would keep her at home, buy all the equipment needed including a special bed and hire 2 to 3 nurses on shifts to take sure she will be taken care of, by me and the nurses and make other arrangements in case I pass away during her illness. I am trying to convince her to take a DNA test to prove to her, she will be fine and would not have her mom's disease. I think she is about to have the DNA test.

i thought exactly the same, my step dad loved my mum so much, they met, when mum was around 50 years of age and they got married within a few months, he done everything for mum, he really was a lovely man, but then mum got diagnosed with dementia, about 24 years later, the next thing we knew was him saying I cant cope with this, he then packed his bags and went back to his other family back in Manchester, as you can imagine, mum never knew what she done wrong, as this was very early stages of vascular dementia, it was a good few years before myself and my sister noticed things changing in mums life, mum passed away 11 months ago, to this day, from when my step dad decided to leave, no one in my family has had any communication from him.

So beautiful the example you are to others. It's such a huge blessing that you have a shared faith and both are trusting God. That is the key to my journey with my husband's progressing dementia. I also am happy to see you also are comfortable in your family, etc, with the disease. We need more of this! 💞🙏

I cried so much with this wonderful man's story of love. My husband has been my sole care taker for the past 2 years. I'm at home in a hospital bed unable to get up at all. He helps me bath, and bm in bed, w which is so very hard to do ly lying down. He cooks, cleans and shops. However, for the past 5 months he can't remember so many things and it is progressing so fast, I don't have anyone that could help us. I cry every day that I can't help him, but I can't even help me. I don't want him taken away from me. He has spirts of anger and it's very hard to live every day not knowing if it's our last together. We are living on social security and it's very low amount. Medicare is terrible. They won't pay for the necessities. We will be married 36 years in a couple weeks and never have been apart. He has always taken care of me and it's so scary. Nursing homes are soooooo terrible and also dementia places are slums. I don't want him to be miss treated. And I have no one to live in our apartment with us. I pray for that man to stay healthy and able to visit his wife always. God bless him.

John beautiful that you have allowed this to be posted. You have a wonderful outlook and she is the love of your life. You are stronger than you think and your love stronger still. What a humorous and determined start to a marriage - taking the parents to court. 🙂But look how YOU were right, she most definitely was the one for you. My sister was diagnosed with Parkinsons and there is no dementia as yet, but it is part of the disease as it evolves. Your wife does not have Alzheimers that is very different to Parkinsons dementia. You can say you are lucky that it isn't Alzheimers (if there is any luck in any of this) but Alzheimers is not quiet, it is violent, aggressive everyone steals from them and is out to hurt them, its horrifying and they will not let you touch or hold them - from what this video shows Maureen is quiet, accepting of help and allows you to hold hands and cuddle and be their for her- even if sadly she does not know who you are. Blessings to you both and YES the best is yet to come. May your heart hold out so you can be there with your Maureen to the very end. ♥♥♥
