Well done with the table. Does the funnel work OK with managing fumes? Also I am still trying to work out the process to upload a G code file. Any guidance on this would be good.

Sick set-up my friend!!! I'm not a farmer/gardener/etc but have been delving deeper into this subject (thank you YT? - lol). These ASPs are the alternative to make your own compost in USDA (US Department of Agriculture) certified organic farms. Sure beats turning the pile(s) constantly. If I were to have a farm, something like this would be the first thing I'd set up - arguably even before getting seeds and seeding equipment. Definitely would want to have my compost going before planting anything. The only thing I would change is to account for a 24hr cycle rather than your 9-5 as I don't think the bacteria go to sleep. I'd probably also nerd out and add an automatic watering system for it tied to some meteorological sensor to account for rain and temperature probes. Tie it all to an app on the phone - haha. Work smart not hard. 🤣

Love it! definitely add your own additions to it. The only reason why we have a 9-5 cycle is because it is reasonably loud and we are only on an acre with the house nearby and neighbours so just being considerate of them. Definitely do it before doing anything else like you said and that's what we've done as well. Amazingly all of that went into the citrus grove terraces so we are in the process of moving that system to a new are a (new video shortly) so that we can install the polytunnel which will be arriving on Tuesday. Hope the setup works for you!

@@phfactor3713 Oh! Sorry! yes no they are just water tanks connected to the gutter of the sheds via pipe to collect the water from the roofs

Beautifully and cleverly done! The repurposing of spaces and the use of felled trees gives the feeling that nothing was wasted and reworked materials were used to create new spaces and to give new life to former disused areas.

this is more insane than a massive pile of organic waste on drugs - i think a passive system would be much better - the heat generated would create its own draft and ventilation - it is all largely unnecessary -as dali said i don't need drugs i am drugs - just make big piles and be lazy - periodically monitor temps for optimal microorganism activity and adjust accordingly (120F) The optimal temperature for a compost pile depends on several factors, but generally, the best results are achieved when the pile's temperature stays within the range of 130°F to 160°F (55°C to 71°C). Within this temperature range, the composting process is accelerated, and pathogens and weed seeds are more effectively destroyed. Composting is a biological process where microorganisms break down organic materials. As they consume the organic matter, they generate heat as a byproduct. The initial temperature rise in the compost pile is mostly due to the high activity of the microbes breaking down the easily decomposable materials. Here are some points to consider: Temperature monitoring: You can use a compost thermometer to regularly check the internal temperature of the pile. Insert the thermometer into the center of the pile, and make sure to turn and mix the pile regularly to distribute heat evenly. Heat retention: Insulating the compost pile can help retain heat and keep it within the optimal range. You can use materials like straw, leaves, or wood chips as a top layer to trap the heat inside the pile. Pile size: The size of the compost pile also influences the heat generated. Smaller piles may not generate and retain heat as effectively as larger ones. Green-to-brown ratio: Maintaining a balanced mix of nitrogen-rich (green) and carbon-rich (brown) materials is essential for effective composting and temperature regulation. Too much nitrogen can lead to excessive heat and unpleasant odors. As for passive ventilation with PVC pipes, it can be helpful in certain situations. Passive ventilation involves using pipes or tubes to introduce airflow into the compost pile without using any mechanical fans or blowers. Proper aeration is crucial for composting, as the microbes involved in the process require oxygen to function optimally. Adequate airflow also prevents the pile from becoming anaerobic, which can lead to foul-smelling compost and slower decomposition. To use passive ventilation with PVC pipes, you can insert the pipes into the compost pile at regular intervals. These pipes will act as channels for air to flow into the center of the pile, facilitating oxygen availability to the microorganisms. However, if you manage your compost pile by turning it regularly (at least once a week) with a pitchfork or shovel, you may not necessarily need passive ventilation. Turning the pile provides aeration by mixing the materials and introducing fresh oxygen. In conclusion, maintaining the optimal temperature and ensuring proper aeration are both crucial for successful composting. Passive ventilation with PVC pipes can be useful in specific situations, but it's not the only way to achieve good results. A well-balanced mix of compostable materials and regular turning of the pile can also help you achieve a healthy, productive compost pile.

The fact that this system is powered by a solar charged battery and has an automatic timer means that this system runs automatically once it is set up. There will be definitely be a learning curve for anyone trying this and does have not experience with an Arduino board, but I feel that the labour savings would be worth it. Furthermore, adding heat sensors on the air tubes that are wired back to the control board could allow for adjustments in duration and/or timing of when blower runs(too hot more air, too cold less air). Of course, the world of composting has many methods, and everyone is free to choose the one that works best for them. For me one that involves no turning, uses solar power for the blower and runs on an automatic and adjustable schedule is a great idea.
