from an outside perspective there arent any good guys, but from in lore/ in universe perspective id argue for the imperium as the good guys. It all comes down to grim necessity and dark morals in order to survive. No amount of love and harmony will save you from a carnifexes belly, but a battle canon just might. Only ruthless militarism and abolute order can ensure that humanity has slightest chance of survival. The Imperium is religious because faith is literal weapon and tool against chaos. The Imperium hates xenos because they tried and still try to wipe out humanity since the age of strife. The Dark Age of Technology and the following AGe of Strife are mainly the reason the Imperium has such extreme policies. The Experiences of these Ages formed the Imperium and without the emporers Intervention humanity would have been wiped out. If you still believe like this will actually be a legit warhammer series, you're delusional. There show already almost got tanked because amazon FORCED GW to make custode's female, and even SACKED HENRY CAVILL to keep their DEI LGBTQ agenda.
