I do too! I actually have the pencils too and use them for sketching, but don't own the other sets. This one spoke to me with its moodyness. :) I'm glad you have fun using it too!

I love painting spiders! I play mtg spider tribal deck and I have painted many spider tokens for the deck. They are close to miniature size too!

Such a beautiful painting... As a small child I went mushroom picking with my father who knew the eadibles, but I wouldn't know the one from the other (except for the obvious.). It's just too dangerous... My father learnt from his father. But they learnt in times when food was scarcer (late 19th, beginning & mid 20th ct - wartime) and foraging in nature was a common way to spice up the daily diet. Different times. Although, not so different anymore for some amongst us...

I agree! My mother and aunt know the mushrooms too, but my mother hasn't collected any in many years. As a kid we would go into the woods too to collect, but I'm nowhere confident to collect anything. I'm much better at growing what I know and would love to have a garden, where I can do that properly. :) So it's definitely safe.

Beautiful painting! We lost a whole family of asylum seekers to this a few years ago. For a myriad of reasons and communication issues, it took too long for the hospital to diagnose the source of their ailment, and they just kept dying and dying it was absolutely heartbreaking to listen to the news. This family had been through so much and had just had a really nice day foraging for mushrooms and cooking them for a meal, and then the last nightmare came for them. I am still shaken every time I think about it. I stopped picking the odd button cap mushroom and popping it in my mouth then, because I am only like 98% sure I identified it correctly. Thank you for spreading awareness and for painting the lovely painting for us, Lana.

Oh wow, that is super tragic! I worked with refugees for many years and I can't imagine how tragic it was for everyone around. Especially as it's true and communication can be difficult. I also believe, that it's not simple for the people themselves to figure it out. Because the problems occur delayed and they maybe themselves did not connect it to the mushrooms. I've read that the early stages can also look like champignons and there are white variations. It's so simple to confuse them with edible ones! Won't ever go foraging. Thanks for the story! Super interesting to read that.

I fell in love with tiny painting after reading, Joyce Washor's book "Big art, small canvas" and hearing her story of how she went from painting huge canvases in a studio to tiny paintings in a her tiny New York apartment after a debilitating shoulder injury. Hello! Thank you so much! It means a lot to me. I dived into the tiny paintings knowing nothing about it and it was soooo much fun for me. Currently I paint tiny cat portraits on stream on twitch and there are many more tiny paintings coming. Thanks for the book reference, I never heard of it and will look into it.
