What a crock of shit, and one that has more holes in it than the Titanic. Lets go through the list: 1) The RR there was pushed through by the Santa Fe in the 1920's as a rerouting of their freight traffic from the withering Port of Redondo Beach to the Port of Los Angeles. If the graves date from before that time period, then in all likelyhood the ATSF would have moved the graves out of the way and off their new property line such as what happened with the Rosedale Cemetery when Venice Blvd was realigned for the Los Angeles and Pacific RR in the 1890's. Of course that doesn't exclude some farmer from burying dead on their property, but in either case any "graves" would be squarely off of the ATSF's ROW (now in the hands of Metro since the sale of the old Harbor Sub in the late 90's ahead of the Alameda Corridor Opening) 2) The WW2 vet is dubious at bet since both the family and the Hillside Cemetery both say that the individual is buried there. How the tombstone got there is beyond me, but in either case more than likely does not contain a body. 3) Additionally since the grave mentioned here is from WW2 it is highly unlikely the ATSF would have allowed an encroachment of this nature on what was their busy harbor line. All in all, bad history and questionable motives since Mr Gould refuses to allow any kind of investigation of the supposed graves

Is the metro line going right up to your fence? Seems like they could easily avoid it by a few feet if the body’s are on your property.

After 100+ years they usually dig up non important bodies and make way for new. They figure no people beyond that time frame will even come to see the grave. I did a college series of papers on cemeteries.
@btomimatsucunard11 ай бұрын
The graves in question are dubious at best on several counts. First being the date in which the RR was pushed through in the 1920's, which going off of similar projects in LA, would have resulted in the graves being moved ahead of the RR construction teams. Second is that no map from either the Huntington Library or Geological surveys from the time period showcase a cemetery there, tho that doesn't exclude a private property owner from burying their dead on their property, which then brings back the issue of it not being associated with the RR property. Third is that the gave shown is from a WW2 vet who has both the family and the Hillside Cemetery in Fox Hills saying he is buried there. Last is the questionable nature of the claim since as of the writing of this comment, Mr Gould has refused to allow any investigation of the graves by Metro.

@@bmo14lax It was more than likely not built over a cemetery, or at the very least the Railway wasn't, can't say anything for this clown's home. The Railway dates to the 1920's when the ATSF moved to build a connection to the LA Harbor after a reduction in shipments through the ports of the Santa Monica Bay. No property map I can find (either through the geological survey database, or the Huntington Library) has any kind of cemetery marked from that time period, tho it wouldn't exclude some farmer burying their dead on the property. Beyond that the grave commonly quoted in news articles is from post WW2, of whom the family states that the individual was buried at Hillside Cemetery near Fox Hills.
