Hey, are you using SD3? I couldn't get my cymbals to work as they kept muting themselves when played. I got it working by turning aftertouch off per cymbal in SD3. Any help appreciated

Yes SD3. Did you get new v2 cymbals? Updated version. Most of the issues with muting were corrected there.

@xbox360Rob for some reason Zildjian don't talk about them aa they should because of the great improvements. Contact Zildjian support team and they should be able to swap them for you for free.

@xbox360Rob visible there are no different. Bow sensor is moved a bit and it is tighter on the cymbals installed. 1.5 software update was specifically designed for v2 cymbals so that also improves everything greatly.

I respect anyone's playing style, and this guy can play blast beats as well as anyone. That said, I have a hard time hearing how the drums actually sound after about 1:20.

I have been searching two years for a flagship electronic kit to replace my seven year old Roland TD-30KV V Pro kit. I played several top of the line electronic kits the past two years. Many of the kits drum sounds were OK, but all of the cymbals felt fake like my Roland kit. I played a Zildjian Alchem-E Gold EX kit during the Music City Drum Show the weekend of July 21st and 22nd. I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Mike Weber with Zildjian. Mike was gracious with his time, demonstrated the kit, and answered all of my questions. Out of all of the best electronic drum kits I played and listened to at the drum show, this drum kit had the best sound and feel. This drum kit is both an acoustic and an electronic drum kit. I purchased a Zildjian Alchem-E Gold EX kit. When I got home, I setup the kit and updated the firmware to the latest version. I setup the module and assigned Yamaha Recording Custom sounds to the toms and kick drum. A Ludwig Black Beauty for a Snare drum. I also created a Pearl Reference kit inside the module. Cymbals as Zildjian K Sweet and ride as a Zildjian Concept Sizzle Ride. I switch back and forth to Z Custom cymbals. The K Sweet and Z Custom cymbals sound so good. My friends and family say that the kit sounds amazing. The sound of the drums are fantastic. The cymbals sound, articulation, and feel are just like real cymbals, because they are real cymbals. I love this kit

Thanks for posting. I have a quick question. When I tried the launch version, there wasn't good separation of edge and bow. It you hit the edge sometimes hard, you would sometimes get a loud bow hit. Is this just "improved" or is it completely fixed?

@@BLASTARDOFEDRUMS-cg8mm They DO look like they have fixed the issue with the launch version. Why they didn't fix it before launch is crazy. It hurt their brand. So many bad reviews and people bowing out from buying. I'm still interested. Zildjian noted that they have another related product coming out maybe before the end of the year. I'm looking for a cymbal-only module and cymbal packs, at a reasonable price, for those of us that don't need an entire kit but want the benefits of their cymbals.

Unfortunately, they only work with Zildjian E vault module as they use high-speed internet cable to connect to transfer more data.

@paulgoetter pretty good especially with new Zildjian v2 cymbals. There is nothing on the market like this when it comes to feel of the cymbals. Plus lots of new things are coming Zildijan way when it comes to this kit.

I finally got my kit! It’s still not fully setup so haven’t properly played on them yet but so far the kits awesome. The reso heads on the bottoms of the shells make them sound sick too. Cool hearing about free cymbals!! Is there anywhere you can link about that? Still no clue on extra cymbal availability here in the uk.

@xbox360Rob extra cymbals should be available soon. Free cymbals upgrade is for early adopters as they upgraded them to more smooth triggering. Overall you will love the kit.

Hey, quick question for you. Did you update your brain to the latest 1.1.5? And if so could you tell me if this fixes triggering of the cymbals. I’m thinking about getting the gold ex kit but I’m a little leery. I’ve owned Roland kits in the past and come to appreciate the reliability but I like the idea of real cymbals. But only if the kit will work.

@paulgoetter yes it does trigger much better but the most important thing is Zildjian updated all their cymbals to brand new better design. So all Kits are shipping right now with version 2.0 and let me tell you it's awesome like having a diffrent kit. Mine are being replaced this week as well.

Hey there, in this video it looks and sounds like you've got more tom's running than the usual 3 tom setup that comes withe the MINDst Drums. Is that correct and if it is... How did you manage to do that? I couldn't find any way to get my 4 tom pads playing individual tom sounds. For example: I could duplicate tom 1 and connect the duplicated one to my second tom Pad but I can't tune them individually. I hope this makes some sense and you get what I mean. 😂 Any advice? Did the 1.5 update make a big difference in the cymbal triggering? Finding it odd there are so few reviews on these. I tried them at guitar center but it’s in the original firmware and the cymbals can’t detect double strokes, flams, hitting the high hat while closing it, etc. like there is a processing delay. Also, how did you get additional cymbals? Doesnt look like they sell them individually

@ki-lowatt7789 I was lucky to get cymbals from Zildjian. 1.5 software update made a huge difference on triggering the cymbals. It's much easier to set them up properly and more updates are on the way. On top that second generation of cymbals should be out soon and as far as I know you will be able to swap them for free if you already purchase the kit. There is no more processing delay and loading kits is also quicker.

Could you give like more in-depth explanations of how you review a kit? All I see on your videos is that you play it and give a number score of your own scoring system which doesn’t have any explanations, also what do you do to acquire all these kits? You must be crazy loaded with money if you’re able to purchase, play, and keep all of them just really confused about your entire channel lol

Sorry about that. Scoring system is pretty easy . 1-10 score with 3 categories feel,playability and sounds based on my experience and having the kit.I owned all of them and never received any for free. I figure since I had access and videos from most of the ekits in the marker it would wise to share it to help some people out there. I will be updating scoring system and have explanation in the channel description soon so it will be much clearer. Thank you for watching.

Hi Randy, You create amazing content! I would like to ask you for some advice. I have a recording session coming up for a Punk-Rock band and we are planning to release an album. Currently, I have a Yamaha DP Series (low budget) and an Alesis Strata Prime. How do you rate the sounds from this module, or would I achieve more with Superior Drummer 3? Second question, based on your experience, would you prefer to get the Alesis Strata Prime or the Roland TD-27? Best regards =)

Hey There! Alesis strata is a great module. You don't need to trigger Any other VST unless you don't like the sounds of Strata. Alesis outdid themselves with this module.Its pretty much BFD in the box.Sounds are great and you can process them within the module any way you like it. You can also run multi out to DAW and process everything there. Very high quality samples. Superior Drummer 3 is great but you have to wiggle a bit to set up properly all the midi notes even with Strata preset. When it comes to buying td27 or strata,Alesis beats Roland each time. Much better module. Only advance in Roland's is their USB connections for snare hats and ride but then you will prefer to trigger outside VST to accomplish desired real drum sounds. I hope that helps.

@xbox360Rob both different kits. Dwe is like vst but no cables with really heavy cymbals and feel odd. Zildjian cymbals are out of this world but it's not plug nad play system. Takes some time to set it up properly.

It's surprisingly good. Cymbals are out of this world. Takes some time to set them up properly due to ongoing vibration. Also, toms and snares are very good.No machine gunning after 1.1 software update.Overall, huge potential if they continue updating.
