Thank you so much for the comment @njhart6236. Yes it's a great responsibility, whether editing a film or documentary. We have to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us in truth and in integrity, because it is so easy to manipulate opinions and emotions using the tools of media. A story like Hansie Cronjé's is of course very controversial and opinions remain divided. We did our utmost to be true to it, based on the information and many hours of interviews done with various people connected to the story, before we actually made the film. Many of those interviews are included on the DVD set. Some will accuse us of not being objective and that's their right. They formed their opinions on Hansie and there's probably no way to change it. Some believe that a man who did what he did doesn't deserve forgiveness and should be shamed forever. Fortunately for Hansie, for me and even for those people, God sees things differently. The wonders of His forgiveness is that we don't deserve it. Hansie was a gifted and beloved sports-hero and leader and he did mess up. He gave into temptation. A lot of people were hurt and disappointed. He owned up to that and paid the price. His road back to accepting God's forgiveness and being able to forgive himself was a long and hard one. That is the main focus of the film, his journey to grace, not all his achievements. We all need God's grace and forgiveness.
