This appears to be a simple cash grab cringe job. Single greatest channel strip ever? Just a channel strip with a modern FabFilter ripoff look. Not an Izotope fan but when the developer deliberatly deingrates a competitor its a red flag. Also not resizable, bunch of bugs and crashes listed by Gearspace readers. On the objective side verdict is still out and may actually turn into a great product but stop the shameless spruiking Dj Swivel.

Yup, and it sounds bad too after a test. Nowhere even close to being in the same league as Izotope or Fabfilter.

I was thinking "I have a robust master chain and all the 3rd party plugins I need to get to the same end result"... BUT, after digging a little deeper, the low latency and all-in-one UI are a solid combo that will help many with workflow. Less bouncing between plugins and less bouncing tracks due to high CPU usage w multiple fx running simultaneously. It looks interesting. I would like to see more!
@djswivel6 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes, the low latency and low CPU was a necessity. I can't tell you the number of times I've pulled up Ozone and it just completely killed a large session. Give it a shot! There's a free demo to try out for 14 days. We'll continue to create new content to show off the product as well, bit of a 1 man team on that side so bear with me!

Presets in a channel strip made after songs you've worked on don't make sense as it is 100% source dependent. Presets for general use cases make sense as a good starting point for workflow. Neutron 5 exists and so does other normal channel strips, so why should I buy this? Very naive, might be really good too, but I don't see the selling point.
@Temperjames6 күн бұрын
moan moan moan complain complain complain Lets be realistic, ALL presets fall into that category... for any plugin, ever. They're presets designed to get you into a ballpark... if you can HEAR the differences you need to tweak manually, then you'll have less of a distance to travel.... again, that's what all presets in any audio plugin are designed to do Its never specifically stated but common sense dictates that presets are only a very broad approximation of what you can expect to hear
@djswivel6 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! You bring up a great point about presets-many users do find that they need some adjustment to suit individual sources, and that’s true across most plugins. While some prefer creating settings from scratch, we also know there are many who appreciate quick, reliable starting points, which is why we included both tailored and general-use presets for flexibility. As for the comparison to Neutron, we're actually thrilled to be seen in the same arena! HitStrip is specifically engineered for ultra-low latency and CPU efficiency, so it’s ideal for loading onto every track in a session without overwhelming your system. In our tests, HitStrip loaded 50 instances in just 6 seconds, while Neutron 3 took 4 minutes and ultimately froze and then crashed the session. With HitStrip, even with all modules and EQs in use, latency is only 176 samples (around 4ms), compared to Neutron’s 684 samples (over 15ms). This makes HitStrip a smoother, more reliable option for heavy, real-time workflows. Thanks again for the feedback!

Not that I need any new tool, am becoming more of the crazy geeky 'Melda-type' but out of curiosity as it looks very-well designed/thought-out I had to give it a try. Makes me think of a little SUV that can take you anywhere you need. Great design in all senses. For someone 'starting out' it could be a dream, a no-brainer.

Thank you, and I hope you get a chance to check it out! HitStrip is an incredibly powerful tool, and our goal is for users to achieve quick intuitive results and move on. Making a great song isn't about fumbling around an EQ, it's about feeling the music and reacting. Having everything in a single page UI is essential to that, and the visual feedback provided makes it approachable for users of all skill levels!

so compared to izotope neutron 5 this is...?
@djswivel6 күн бұрын
We have a video doing a head to head coming soon. A couple notes: 1. HitStrip has all functions on a single page GUI. This is essential for a channel strip. Neutron requires multiple pages, menus, and modules added. This means you're removed from intuitively mixing, and have to spend more time in a complex product. This may work for certain tracks that require hyper focus to fix, but most mixing should be fluid and all about the emotion. Add the plugin, make the moves, and move onto the next thing in your mix. Comparing to Neutron, only HitStrip accomplishes that. 2. HitStrip outperforms Neutron with respect to CPU usage by a WIDE margin. In fact it's not even comparable. Give this experiment a try: Grab our free demo of HitStrip, and load up a session with your existing plugins, midi instruments etc. Add 50 copies of HitStrip across all channels, and record how long it takes for all 50 to load from deactivated to activated. Then try the same with Neutron. Please share your results! In our own test, HitStrip took 7 seconds. Neutron took 6 minutes and then crashed the entire DAW.

@djswivel17 күн бұрын
@@O_M23 depending on if you’re a producer or songwriter, it’s a bit different. As a songwriter, you’ll agree to your splits (percentage of songwriting/publishing). Typically the artists team will reach out and propose splits, or you’ll work on that with the cowriters if you have any. Once that’s agreed you’d register your song with your rights society (ASCAP/BMI/Sesac in USA - but each country has their own), or if you have a publisher they’ll do that for you. If you’re a producer you sort out your publishing splits as described above, but you also need to work out a producer agreement. How much are you being paid, what’s the recoupment terms look like, how are you credited etc. Once those main terms are agreed in a contract, you sign and get paid. Good to have a lawyer do this for you.

Please, what do you listen for when adding db to a certain frequency (in vocals), how do you select the right frequency to enhance. E.g you added 6k ish to Chris vocal, then 11k ish to dua’s vocal. 🙏
@djswivel21 күн бұрын
@@musicmyeverything2495 it’s all taste. There’s no right or wrong. I’m generally try to balance out the vocals to make them feel similar in tone and frequency response, and that needs to balance against the frequency response of the track. So the truth is, there’s no perfect answer. But in time and with practice you will learn how to blend these sounds together and make them all “fit” like legos.

Thx DJ Swivel. Love ur vids, and appreciate YOU! Question. What if you write and produce a song 100% yourself and pitch it to an artist who then accepts it, what is the expectation then? Surely they would want to chip in to production or rewriting so they would get a bigger piece of the pie, rightfully so if production quality was not to their standard. How much % of the writing/production would you typically get then, if they don’t change it much from the original

Hey DJ Swivel! How much DB of GR do engineers approximately apply while recording through the LA2A / CL1B for pop/ rap artists? Is it somewhere between 3 and 5 db or is it common to use way more compression, up to 10/ 15db? Thanks & Greetingz! ⭐️
@djswivel2 ай бұрын
@@poppasmoke4933 3-5is a good place to start. It really depends on the vocalist, how dynamic they are, their recording technique, and the sound you’re going for on the song. But as a general rule, for basic control on the way in 3-5db is solid advice.
