funny how you say the media are spreading misinformation and yet you lie about the grand final attendance which was more like 12k. the brisbane v melbourne gf sold 7k tickets within minutes and it could have easily been more if actual stadiums had been available. tickets for this years grand final have already been exhausted and they very well couldve gotten close or more than double that if the AFL had the competence to keep marvel available during grand final week. the AFLW is doing the best it can since the AFL is actively doing everything they can to sabotage it from poor broadcasting to the shit fixtures. Bet you wouldn’t know or care that the AFL hold the AFLW back by making them play with a smaller ball which actually makes it harder to kick longer and accurately. the AFLW could be the best professional sport for women in the country if the AFL didn’t treat it like mere tokenism and showed care for it like the NRL do with the NRLW.

Because the women don't generate nearly enough revenue to sustain the AFLW competition. Don't women want to be paid based on merit or is it that equality is a one way street and only applies when it suits them? The AFLW should register itself as a charity to make it official.

Tough to say really, maybe because one team on average gets 80k supporters, the other get maybe 2000 people. The pay gap is fake, they need to deserve it not be handed equal pay which they don’t deserve

It might help if the women could generate some revenue, but instead they are fully funded by the men without which they would run at a huge loss. Don't women want to get paid on merit, or do they just see themselves as a charity case? So much for equality. Very few people are prepared to pay to watch AFLW even when the tickets are cheap.

@@gustaaf1892 The AFLW players are not being funded by the male AFL players they are being funded by the Taxpayer. Just have a look at Ikon Park the Taxpayer gave Carlton $70 Million Dollars to upgrade the venue in the form of a women in sports grant.

I think it's due to the lack of commercial star power. Tennis had the Williams sisters' and soccer in Australia has the women, I believe, overlapping the men in terms of public image due to their performance during the world cup. Like men Australian soccer players don't seem marketable, but I'm seeing the Matilda's in ads. I can't see the same for AFLW until someone with the skills and charisma can dominate those two categories.
