@jcap462 similar design, but I don't have experience with them. I know they make valve body upgrades as well as upgraded clutch packs for 4eats as well.

I know this video is 2 years. But the next time you have to scuff a set of headers or tubing like that, they make Scotch-Brite abrasive ball that goes in the drill. Harbor Freight has cheaper ones that work good

@ccgmanu hey! Nice to meet you Emanuel. 3rd to 4th the front brake will disengage, and the input clutch will engage. So it could either be an issue with one releasing or the other engaging. The input clutch is the one all the way to the right, if the solenoids are closest to you. 2 over from that is the front brake solenoid. 👍 Hopefully that helps! I believe in the video description there is still the manual on 5eat operation that has a bit more info as well!

Can I clean them without removing the valve body adn just sparying from under the car on to the valves? Also do we need to lubricate them with silicon lubricant or something else after using MAS cleaner?

@wonderwalls3565 the valves are on top and not accessible from below the valve body, so doesn't do much good. If you're having issues I'd always try the back to back flush method first as this is fairly involved. And no need to lubricate after cleaning. the fresh fluid will do all of that.

@@MatlasDI I tried to change the fluid on 6l45 on bmw 1 series. the tranmission is in limp mode, whinning noise coming and sounds like some metal trying to engage. changed to fluid 3 times. the problem is the valve body has some bolts which is not normals and i dont know what they are called or from where to get them.

I have the same engine but so much worse, every one of the cams and cam journals need to be fixed or replaced, the crankshaft is scored everywhere and one rod is destroyed, I got lucky that all the block needs is a hone

Thanks for this amazing instructional video. I have a 2008 Subaru Legacy and would also like to install a vent/lourve. I pretty sure that this has been taken into account but is there any possible way of avoiding cutting the inner structure of the hood? I live in Singapore which is located 1 degree north of the equator; so we get pretty hot with the ambient temperature being about 86F [ 32 Celsius ]. The heat soak engine temp on idle can go as high as 158F [ 70 Celsius ] vs what is reported for yours [ 6:33 / 12:00 ] which is 68F [ 20 Celsius ] ambient & 144F [ 62 Celsius ] intake. So installing a vent / louvre on my Legacy would definitely help dissipate the heat away from the engine bay.

Wow! HUGE difference even at idle! I plan on installing at least a pair of outer hood louvers on my 2010 Tahoe & possibly a center vent as well to get temps down in these Texas summers as well as prepping for upcoming engine mods. Great video with actual numbers 👍

The seller first agreed to oay for damages, but he requested a bad rating removed before helping, so he was just trying to get bad review removed and mot help. Did you ever end up putting a fmic on the Outback ? I’m looking everywhere to see if I could pull off getting a fmic on my xt without chopping it up to much or maybe it would be better to stick with aftermarket top mount .

@jjequihua8842 Before teardown, I still had the grimmspeed topmount that was modified for speed density. It did well and honestly felt more responsive in daily driving than the front mount, likely due to the shorter piping. I have a different front bumper on the outback, so I'll be going custom with this next setup to limit having to chop that bumper up. I've seen people run various front mounts without having to do a ton of work. I'd just be mindful during of where the charge piping comes out of the core. That's typically the issue rather than fitting the core itself due to the huge foglight housings protruding from the backside of the bumper 👍

Did the HexMod VB swap... 300hp ATW. 5EAT is fine, but TC busted. Dealer has never seen a cracked TC. Independent shop said same. Good that he's off the platform.

@beck4218 If you haven't seen my video of teardown on my outback, that car had a shattered flexplate. I haven't seen a torque converter itself physically break outside of normal lock up issues, etc. That's crazy.

Is there a part 2 of this video? I'm just wondering if the repair/cleaning fixed the problem? I'm getting a P2764 and P1710 code on my 2012 Subaru Tribeca with a 5EAT transmission. It's sticking on a downshift from I believe 3rd gear to 2nd gear. I brought it to the local transmission repair shop. They had a snap-on tool (I believe OBD2) that was able to give a reading: torque converter speed 2, speed circuit malfunction. Thanks

Not required for the swap. My wheels would contact my inner trailing arm in the rear due to size and offset, so I use a small spacer for clearance.

Had access to ssm3, so went in and reset memory 2, then just standard driving, mild throttle allowing it to shift on its own for a couple drives.

@Libroerina a lot of people don't reset learning, but I would recommend to after replacement. Probably won't hurt anything, but won't relearn to the best of its capabilities.

They recommend blasting it if possible, but going on almost 2 years and I've had zero issues with any of these parts. No undershield on the car as well. The scotch bright worked well. If you have access to sand blasting or aluminum oxide blasting, then go that route, but at home methods for that make a massive mess..

I could buy some aluminum oxide & a hand sand blaster. But like you said, that shit will be everywhere! I should have just had Speedtech do it, but I wanted a different color than black & I still had to do my turbine housing anyway. I hope it comes out good, the cars fast but it’s a show car too, a lot of titanium hardware & carbon on the car. Guess I’m gonna have to cross my fingers on this one!
