I'm from Turin. I discovered Camogli when I was a teenager and I choose this village as my buen retiro. Camogli is not only the beautiful little town with its small harbor, colorful houses and a glorious history as an important marittime center from the middle ages to the end of the XIX Century. Camogli is also the awesome cove of San Fruttuoso, with crystal clear water and a one thousand years old benedictine abbey and the most part of the natural Park of Portofino. On the Mount of Portofino slopes we have more than 50 miles (80 km) of trails. It's a hickers' paradise. We don't have many beaches, but we have a beautiful sea and a marittime protected area around Portofino promontory. Best place for diving and snorkeling, the big rock of Punta Chiappa (Lord Byron's favourite place). If you plan a visit, my suggestion is to avoid August, holidays and week-ends to avoid crowds in Camogli, San Fruttuoso and Portofino. From May to mid July and from September to the end of October are the best periods to visit us. This year the weather was horrible (al lot of rain and thunderstorms), but normally you have good chances to have good weather and the water is warm for swimming. A couple of years ago I could swimm in Camogli at Halloween and water temperature was ok. Please, avoid "fast tourism". Take your time, discover our history, take your trekking shoes and get all your informations before starting a trail (some of them are easy, some others are strenuous).

I've seen some of the 'mock' tests and even though I wasn't born in the UK, I've been here for all my education and I didn't know a lot of the questions. Like who gives a shit about stuff in the Middle Ages, and why is that relevant??

Yeah it's a common thing, a lot of Brits won't know the answer to those questions either. I guess they just want British citizens to know the history and get to know the UK on a deeper lever (patriotism). I personally found it enjoyable to learn about it.

we must stop saying that Sidi bou Saïd is the “Santorini of Africa”. Historically, it is exactly the opposite! On August 28, 1915, a decree was issued to ensure the protection of the village, imposing the blue of Sidi Bou Saïd and the white as desired by Baron d'Erlanger. While the combination of white and blue was introduced in the early 1930s during the dictatorship of Metaxas, in Greece in a quest for order and uniformity. So, it is false to claim that Sidi bou Saïd looks like Santorini. It is rather the opposite that should be titled.
@danielazziptrips
@danielazziptrips 12 күн бұрын
Hi there, the only reason I said that is because, as a European, Santorini is a lot more known than Sidi bou Said. So visiting it felt like I was seeing the Santorini of North Africa. Oh dear, describing Cornwall and Mevagissey as 'English', shows a lack of knowledge of Cornish and British history and cultural identity. Cornwall, means the land of the headland Welsh, i.e. the Celts. Not Anglo-saxon, i.e. 'English'. Kernow is the native word for Cornwall, meaning 'beak or horn', as it describes the peninsula. I have been to Tibet, and would not describe Tibet as Chinese. When people speak the name 'Mevagissey', they are using a language that is NOT English. It is Cornish. It is a contraction of Meva hag Issey, meaning Meva and Issey, after the Irish and Welsh saints of Meva and Issey. Also, Mevvagissey is NOT in St Austell, it is near St Austell. That aside, it is an attractive smal town, owing to Cornish hilly topography, but dominated by 'emmits' and holiday homes, to the exclusion of the native Cornish. How many people in Mevagissey identify as Cornish? I suspect much less than 50%. I suggest the author of this video explores native Cornish culture, history and people, rich in itself, and well worth exploring for another video about Cornwall (Kernow). The World's largest deposits of China Clay (kaolin) mining are nearby in the St Austell area. I would not describe the Clay Country villages like Bugle, Stenaless, Nanpean or Roche with such chocolate box sentiment like Mevvagissey. Maybe they are also worth a video from this author? From Bodmin, Cornwall.

Hi Daniela, thank you for your video and congrats on your achievement. I nearly have everything ready and I'm gonna take the Life in the Uk test very soon. I got stuck at one point which is quite confusing. When you had to prove you lived in the country for 5 years, did you provide evidence for the first five years (before getting your settled status) or after? I'm asking because i have lived here for nearly 10 years and got my status about 5 years ago
@danielazziptrips
@danielazziptrips 2 ай бұрын
Hi there, thank you for watching! I moved in September 2015 and the referendum took place the year after so I got my status not longer after my move. They just want proof that you have been living here for 5 years so having the last 5 years as proof will be enough (so I assume even your status should serve as proof)

@@danielazziptrips ok thank you for that I moved to the UK the year before you did and got my status in 2019.
