Nice video. Many solid stone buildings and structures built with convict labour. Pity a similar use isn't made today of our prison inmates.

Nice wee video...captures the atmosphere nicely..I spent all my childhood holidays staying at Bishop's House..in those long gone days , the ferry consisted of a fairly small motor boat, and tourists amounted to a few dozen holiday makers , and the rush hour was the King George V steamer calling in for about 90 minutes en route to Staffa, Tobermory, and back to Oban. Happy memories 🙂

I think i was at those buildings that are built into the ground before . They are at the end of the small coastal road. I have always wondered what they were for . Any info would be appreciated.

I think the Secesssionists would roll over in their graves hearing a waltz by Johan Strauss as the soundtrack for this video. 😀 The Music of Gustav Mahler and/or RICHARD Strauss would be more appropriate. Secessionists were avante garde, and Johann Strauss was quite traditional.

Bayonne is a delight. Give me the gorgeous colours and old buildings of its Vieille Ville over its, ostensibly, flashier (but really just underwhelming on closer inspection) neighbour, Biarritz. The real ritziness, for me, is in the unassuming, French-Basque capital. Its streets are eminently strollable. Unlike Biarritz, its visual appeal is charming and interesting. Sure, it doesn’t have Biarritz’s fabled plage, but who cares, when you have 2 rivers for the price of one (Nive; Adour) converging in Bayonne. Ultimately, the clincher for me is Bayonne feels like it has more soul. Biarritz may be good for a throwaway summer fling, but Bayonne is the keeper.

Wow, this building truly is the crown jewel of Vienna. It's just so majestic. I get the same sense of wonder gazing upon it as I would beholding an Ancient Greek temple.

This is one of my favorite pieces of design, ever. It came up in art history classes and again when I got interested in that period of design and the Weiner Werkstatt. These guys were true innovators and celebrated modernism with a playful and celebratory vocabulary. The gold metal bowl is fantastic.

Huntingdon was and is John Major's home town, not Margaret Thatcher's. Maggie T hailed from Grantham. It is correct it is the home town of Cromwell however.
