The God of War devs held a conference on how to lead a player through your game showcasing Phils gameplay. They literally use this fucking gouty single cell organism as a case study for how to implement hand holding. Amazing

8:03 Modern video game hand holding has only progressed. And I don’t think it is good for the kids. When I was 6 I would get lost for hour in the first Halo, that is immersive. More so than these "open worlds" where everything is highlighted. In Halo, press down on d pad and you'd always get a waypoint directing you exactly where you had to go. And just like other games, they make the map more like 1 lane opposed to a maze with dead ends. Seems everything is competing with the games on your phone which can deliver the fastest back to back dopamine hits.
