I started modeling a little less than a month ago maybe and I made a semi low polly revolver and I have a lot to go but hopefully one day it will all culminate to a base of a game I'm committed in the long haul to make. Anyway if there are small things you need help with I enjoy doing some of that stuff on discord, especially since I come from a very artistic drawing and story writing background

Nice work man! Looking good, excited to see you still working on this. One quick optimisation tip is you can cache all active enemies and manually remove them from the cache when they die to prevent having to use FindGameObjectsWithTag every update step (which is a very expensive call as it has to iterate through every object in the scene) hope this helps 😊

I think you should stick with the exploration and the bigger map, because it would be more fun and not boring. Like finding materials to upgrade the house, tools(like ores) etc. The exploration is a crucial part of a farming a tower defense game, to find animals and other things. The bigger map too!

Cool, anyways here's a cookie recipe - 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened - 1 cup granulated sugar - 1 cup packed brown sugar - 2 large eggs - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract - 3 cups all-purpose flour - 1 teaspoon baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 2 cups chocolate chips Instructions: 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). 2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. 3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. 4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. 5. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough. 6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. 7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may still appear slightly undercooked, but they will firm up as they cool. 8. Transfer onto a drying rack. 9. Wait until room temperature to eat to prevent burning your mouth or hands, and enjoy!

I know this is an old video but just wanted to say this. Sometimes spending a lot of money on an expensive asset is definitely worth it. For example: Early in my development I would take a few hours every other day to create a third person template thats able to climb ladders, edges, and various other objects. That took me 2 months to complete. If I worked 50 hrs on that system over the course of 2 months that's equivalent $1,000 of potential income lost. Or just 50hrs of playing video games with the boyz and my friends lost. But years later (now). I just bought a third person controller for $50 on sale. It has almost 50X more features and even a UI interface for modular character creation. Spending 1 week studying that asset I know how to write dozens of my own versions of various features now. So sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and buy a quality asset.

Got probably 1600h into my game, don't know if its because im a very technical person with lots of previous experience in 3D Modeling, Texturing etc. But i already got Basebuilding, all Weapon Mechanics, 16 Guns, a full fledged homemade Inventory system, crafting system, gathering system, movement system, farming system and even Vehicles, AI, Dedicated sever and so much more established without using assets. Fully multiplayer replicated for up to 60 players in a open world map. I always see videos like this and im like, either people are slow or i am fast. Thats progress of like 7 months.

Honeslty for me i much prefer the direction this is going in now. Dont know how many more survival games i can handle. Even as a "basic" tower defense theres a lot you can do. Especially in the 3D realm.

Please consider my idea: Make a fog around the map, (like darkness or something) if player go there then losing or something. Out of this darkness enemy robots are coming. Then instead of having a shop open every round - make it dynamic by bringing apples or something to the house to activate the shop. (Apples are spawning on the map). That means the player can have more interaction, not only load an ammo to the turret and wait. Also he is taking a risk. For example enemies can have bigger damage when far from the base, or near the apples. 😊 (This is just a scratch idea so change it to your needs) 😊

The ammo / turret ammo change doesn't work together with the new limited inventory. To make that work you gonna need as little item variation as possible, else the player is just busy running around and storing stuff instead of playing the game. Instead just add up to 25 bullets to turret if possible per e press(if there are lessen then 25 in inventory-> add them to the turret). Also I think the 6 item slots won't work with crafting at all, but I'm curious about future developments! Maybe you will surprise me
@overphildev
@overphildev 19 күн бұрын
very fair. I am worried adding an item for it will just waste space but I think down the road when I add more things it will help with balancing. It will be trail and error though so if it doesn't work I can always use your idea.

I'm on the 4th version of my game. I didn't even delete anything. I literally started an empty project 4 times, at first I copied some stuff but redoing everything was better because the first 3 versions taught me everything I needed to learn for the 4th and hopefully final version. So you're good unless you burned through someone else's investment capital.
