Can’t wait to go there next week! Also, the carousel’s a little different from my past visits. There’s a small Wurlitzer band organ near the main entrance of the carousel, there’s a voiceover when the ride starts and before ride ends, and the clown’s eyes change colors when somebody’s ring goes inside his mouth.

The Wurlitzer 146-A operates rarely but has for several years been in the center of the carousel. The corner of the building, previously used, has more recently been occupied by a soda fountain concession attraction.

This is the Merry-Go-Round in the Fiesta Village area of Knott's Berry Farm, which is actually a 1912 Dentzel, not 1905. The Merry-Go Round in the Lagoon Area was a 1907 Dentzel, and was operating there from the 1950's until 1984, when the Lagoon Area closed down and was converted into additional parking. That Merry-Go-Round did have a working, functional band organ, which was played occasionally on particularly busy days and weekends. The 1907 Dentzel was moved to another amusement park, Castle Park, in 1984. I used to work in the Knott's Lagoon Area in the very early 1980's, and operated the Merry-Go-Round there (as well as the other rides).

Did the band organ near the Lagoon Area 1907 Dentzel also get moved to Castle Park? It was the one with the wooden lady figurines who rang hand held bells.

I have never been on this game, but I want to go soooo bad!!😄😄
Sounds epic. I would love to hear it at full volume without it behind any stupid glass.

I rode this magical merry go round 50 years ago. We used to watch all the instruments play. I am an old man now, but I m not deaf. What a shame the working of this are hidden.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember riding this carousel in the late 50's and that organ was operating on the inside of the riding platform. There also use to be mirrored panels that surrounded the mechanics and center pole!!!! 👍

@@petercyr6287 You're right sorry I am wrong. The carousel was Built-in 1926 and it said it "went with the organ" so I assumed it was built around the same time but it was Built-in 1986. Good eye!

@@MsGoodHands 1987. The old organs before it are 2 165's, in American Treasure Tour and in Glenn Thomas's home in Princeton NJ. Apparently the Knotts Berry Farm Wurlitzer 157 was another Ex-Organ at this carousel too. The original organ is still on it but is not used. It's a North Tonawanda organ.

The reason it takes a long time to be lifted off and for the crown to spin is because bertazzon models come with a hydraulic lifting system so that is why you hear the drone of the hydraulic cylinders at the beginning

Thank God it is behind a glass. The pure crud that hangs out there would vandalize it. It would have gang graffitti and symbols carved in it within days, a gift from the "people who just want to work". I just saw this organ on Thursday and was aw struck.
