I've never actually stayed there, but have been there several times. My Grandad used to be the house electrician. He loved to take us in and show us around. I always enjoyed seeing the gingerbread house at Christmas time ❤

Mt dad grew up in Hot Springs in the 1920s, early 1930s.Capone would also stay at the Como Hotel.Owney Madden ran gambling.Daddy and Uncle Tom got a dime each from John D.Rockerfeller one day when they were downtown.Asked.did you save it, no was the answer, we bought candy.John D. Gave little kids dimes because that was the first money he made, and he wanted.to inspire tthem to be thrifty.Mayor Laughlin once gave the two a ride in his horse drawn carriage to great grandma,s house.When they got to the house, he asked her name.When they replied Mrs.Anna Hilpert, he was surprised in I guess not in a good way.She was an educated woman and she and great grandpa help found St.John,s Catholic Church.But she was a mean German woman with an iron will,.Had a dispute with Woodhall the dairyman over some grazing land .He did in a few of her cows, so she told great uncle Bill to hitch up the wagon and she took a shot gun and shot as many of his she could find.That,s before she moved to Prospect Avenue, and the family lived on Hwy 70.Anyhow, Woodhall got the sheriff who talkef.to great grandma.When asked by tje dairyman, well, arent you going to arrest her?the sheriff replied Hell no, she,ll shoot me! Folks knew who she was and didnt mess with her .
