Another great idea that works for me is to go out there and have fun. I set this to the primary objective. This makes me smile all the time during the game and helps me to feel more relax.

Ty so much for this! I am dealing with a six year old who is amazing in practice and in the yard and I think I made his confidence go down by focusing on his mistakes 😢 I feel horrible now lol

Great to see an addressing of the between points routine. I like how you suggest that there can be different approaches depending on the player's needs and what they respond to. It seems like the essential components are 1. conclude the previous point, 2. calm the body (breathe) 3. know how to specifically start the point. Brent Abel's BPR framework adds 4. a positive self-pump. Nice to see your perspective on this, thank you for posting the video. I think one thing that is missing here is that the between points routine can and should be practiced! Both during practice sets and during high stakes matches.

So coaches play favorites, have a soft ego, and you cant be direct with them because they will feel attacked. Got it 😂

Control vs what you can’t control. You can control your mindset to be ready when your name is called. You can’t control coaches favorites. -As a parent you control how you support your athlete/ you control the team they are on/ and you control how you react and provide positive advice on how to approach the coach.

Interesting.. I've developed full swing yips from the middle of the fairway... very strange and extremely frustrating. It seems I'm okay off the tee or out of the rough but struggle to take the club back in the fairway...

I am the opposite. I can take nice practice swings on the tee. They feel loose, fluid and easy. When I address the ball on the tee to hit my tee shot, everything disappears. I feel like I have no idea what to do, like I have never golfed before (been golfing 50 years and used to a 10-12 handicap), and every way I move in the swing feels very wrong resulting in horrid shots. I often stop at the top of my backswing because it feels wrong and awful. Once I have dribbled something off the tee though I can usually hit a decent to good shot off the fairway or out of the rough. Been going on for months now. Very frustrating. It started for me when I bought a new driver Cobra LTDX on an impulse. I didn't get the chance to try the driver out at the store into the practice net, I just bought it. When I took it to the course it felt awful in my hands and I couldn't hit it at all, but I wanted to like it so bad I just kept playing with it. Never got any better, just worse. Finally I went back to my old Ping driver, or just teed off with my 3 wood, but that swing is now gone too. As a round progresses, or from the get go, I will even degrade to where I can't hit any club above a nine iron. Get me inside 150 yards and I have no yips, usually. I actually have a good short game but cannot hit long clubs at all because of the yips. I am lost and don't have a clue how to get over this. Thinking about quitting the game I love. I hope you find an answer for yourself. I know what this feels like.

I had the yips as a catcher in high school (junior year). Every game was absolute anxiety hell. In one game, the batter fouled a ball back and broke my middle finger. My first thought was: "Thank god I don't have to throw the ball back to the pitcher anymore."

Where you all go wrong is you do not apply common sense. When you miss a long putt you have an excuse. It was speed, break, and etc. But when you miss a short putt it is for one simple reason. The ball did not start out on it's intended line. There is no excuse. You have a bad stroke. That is when the moment of truth arrives that nobody wants to face up to. The problem is solved by learning how to putt. Almost NOBODY wants to take the time to do that. It is not easy and takes hard work. Things are further confused by timing and by luck. Sometimes timing is there and most times it is not. And some days you are lucky and some days you are not. Then if you happen to use a SBST stroke it is all luck. And if you do not release, you need timing which is rarely there when you want it. You can think it is all brainpower until you are blue in the face. But in the end you have to learn how to putt.

Here’s the fix: throw at target 20ft away only using your wrists. No body rotation, no arm throw, no stepping into throw. Basically a wrist flick to a target 20ft away. You’ll spin the ball naturally. Realize you don’t need any body to advance ball. Make 10 throws this way. Then add a bit of arm motion but with same wrist flick. Then add body rotation all the while maintaining feeling of just a wrist flick movement. You must spin ball for accurate throws and the wrist flick drill gets a thrower to do just that

Having been involved with Doc Cohn for about 20 years now, I always appreciate the things that hit my inbox! I have gotten lazy with my pre-shot routine, thinking that the "routine" of it is enough to perform my best. After reviewing this video, I am rededicating myself to "improve" my pre-shot routine by re-considering all elements that I should focus on to "allow" myself to hit more shots as "planned." Thank goodness I have a great pre-putt routine that has helped me to save a lot of shots. Thanks to Doc Cohn for that as well!! Now it is time to return to the ball striking form (and results) that I "know" lies within me.

It’s funny how you can say score doesn’t matter when you are on the course and you need to finish your last three holes with 3 pars. In that case your scores do matter. You know it and no amount of psychological self talk is going to change that. The real question is what causes self sabotage on the course, what is the root cause for missing a one foot putt to win. Is it fear of success, fear of failure or something else. Can that fear be changed or the minds reaction to the situation be changed. Saying the score doesn’t matter until you’re adding up your score at the end is empty, it is almost like crazy talk. You need to clarify my man

PREGAME ROUTINE (improve ur confidence, confidence, focus, and composure) 1. Get clicked in with your focus; remind yourself of your objectives/strategy/tactics, make sure to focus on the things that are in the moment. 1:40 2. Fuel your confidence 2:00 Think about the reason why you deserve to perform/compete well that day. 3. Do a mental rehearsal. 2:25 4. Trust in your skills. 3:11 5. Embrace the butterflies 3:37 . Tell yourself that's "it's okay, that's my body getting ready to execute." "Consistent mental preparation=consistent performance"
