Almost same as for me. Visited the local Ducati dealer here in Stockholm with no intention to buy just to test it and confirm that this bike is not for me because i am quite tall. 20 km of testride my mind said” i need this bike” but black was sold out. Spending my vacation to accept a red one and when i had decided to go for a red one a black V2 appeared at the dealer again. Bought it immediately…

The M4 comes with a extension to retain the stock O2 sensor, it is plug and play and very easy to install. No tune needed, bike runs amazing. Just listen to my videos after the install. First...he did NOT perform the service early....BMW suggests the first service be performed between 350-750 miles...he did his at 400 miles. In the US you are NOT required to have the manufacturer perform the services in order to maintain warranty...this is the LAW...that as long as you use OEM parts they cannot deny your warranty (this is the Magnussen Moss Act in the US) Second, the service is just a simple oil change, a cursory check of critical fasteners and chain, and teh removal of hte rev limiter...that is all...there are no other critical steps that he somehow missed or didnt do that a tech would have found. Third, Calimoto's was ALSO service "early" and he also tuned it with an aftermarket tune and removed all EPA parts and put aftermarket parts on it...the same exact parts as Manny did....the difference is that Cali had Nate Kerns actually speak to BMW on his behalf and THIS is why his was covered. AS I understand it, Manny's was denied because he had an aftermarket tune on it that allowed his bike to rev past the manufacturer redline and that he had an over rev of 250 RPM's..and THAT is why it was denied. As an owner of a BMW M1kRR, I can tell you that this entire denial by BMW is simply HORRIBLE...and I also know of other failures of the rod bearing in other M1KRR's on bikes that were still 100% stock, also that had under 800 miles on them. IMHO they have a defective bearing and instead of a recall, they are rolling the dice that most owners will be modifying thier bikes and the cost of replacement of a recall will be more than the number of motors they have to replace, as they will be able to deny warranty on MOST of them....since all USA bikes have the horrible throttle limits in 2,3,and 4 gears (throttle is limited to 30% until 8,000 rpm even after the breakin tune is removed) and most owners tune them. I can tell you that if mine blows and isnt covered I will post a video every single day.....
@ThatGermanFella
@ThatGermanFella 25 күн бұрын
As owner of a M1000R , I am aware of the motor issues, while not ideal and like you mentioned BMW could / should have handled the issue differently, I choose for this very same reason to stay on the safe side. Meaning, let the dealer service my bike and I won’t mess with the tune until it’s out of warranty. It is my own way to protect my investment…
@redrider0151
@redrider0151 25 күн бұрын
@@ThatGermanFella Unfortunately here in the US the dealerships are not all what I would call "Top Notch". I did my own service at 620 miles on my M1kRR, documented everything, then brought it to the dealership to have the rev limiter removed. I used all BMW parts (filter and oil). Manny has the same issue, that is local dealer is horrible, that they damaged one of his bikes in the past. For me, I am not paying someone 180 dollars an hour to change my oil and check some bolts (as I am going to check them myself anyhow...). Even as it was, they charged me 65 dollars labor and 20 dollars for "Equipment"...which I was told was the computer used to connect to my bike just to simply remove the rev limiter. Its ridiculous.... I will be changing my exhaust and tuning it once i hit 2000 miles or so. I will change the oil again at that time and check for any metal....and will document it all just in case. I am not waiting for 3 years to make my bike perform and to give it a linear throttle delivery... :D

It’s probably the biggest deterrent for a lot of people. But in all fairness to Kawasaki, this bike is loaded with quality components that your typical beginner bike does not even come close. Like I said, you can grow with this bike instead of switching down the road.
@DerSpeggn
@DerSpeggn 26 күн бұрын
I think that even a ZX 6R is a better beginner bike than the 4RR. Simply because you can ride a 600R at low revs and still have a good flowing riding style. The 4RR though, you have to rev its nuts off to get the same. And this always keeps you at higher speeds, often too high speeds for beginnerst to handle/judge. Maybe not at the 50hp stock US configuration, but at the 77hp EU spec, it definetly is. Yeah if you rev a 600 it goes way faster, but you dont have to. You can ride it more relaxed if you want to. Just watching the video you never see the bike at lower revs. Always (too) fast for a beginner. Wich is, for example, the reason that most press bikes handed out for testing had been crashed in Europe, especially after they wanted the opinion of younger riders who did not have much experience. Have it at US spec or EU A2 spec at around 50hp, yeah beginner bike, but unrestricted its a fun toy for experienced riders.
@MrsWingsGeo
@MrsWingsGeo 26 күн бұрын
To be fair, the video was made by an experienced rider having quite a bit of fun. If we make the video from my point of view, you would see a real beginner ride. I love the bike, never having ridden a sports bike before, I'm very much in love with it.
@ThatGermanFella
@ThatGermanFella 26 күн бұрын
Unfortunately I have yet to set up my new rider with a camera, so you can see how she rides it. Yes, what you see here is me having fun and wringing it out. That said, the reason I feel very comfortable with her on it , is the fact that even if she whisky throttles, the bike will not take off on her, which the 660 bike she was trying out did and scared the crap out of her … ;)
@DerSpeggn
@DerSpeggn 26 күн бұрын
@@ThatGermanFella Yes. But in my opinion that is exactly the trap this bike lures you into. You feel safe at speeds that are none of your business yet. A 120hp 600 should scare a beginner if you rev it too high, whilst it is still not suicidal fast as a 1000 is. This leads to a much more relaxed riding style for a beginner at low to medium revs and overall lower speed. And the few exeptions when a beginner wrings it all out is with high focus and in a more controlled situation. The (unrestricted) 4R though, makes you feel safe and fine, whilst you are at 100mph+ between the corners, witch leads to situations a beginner is not able to handle. Fear of leaning until the pegs scratch the ground? Then do not enter a corner way too fast if you are unable to do it, when it would be the only way to save yourself and the bike. Just as an example. I Appreciate your video though. If you know what you are doing, this pocket rocket is just pure joy. I only had a 30 min test ride with it, and now the dealers are all sould out. But if available, I will rent one for a weekend, and ride around in the german mountains with it.
