Thank you from 🇬🇧. Lovely vid of men who knew xactly wot they were doing. Respected n trusted one another & no nonsense got in the way of earning a living. Nice to see ol Mr Bulleids coaching stock & triangulated u/frame goods wagons at work. His legacy left over from his time as C. M. E. @ Inchicore in the 50’s.

How many of these lines have been or still could be used as greenways? At least the route would be preserved if ever the need for rail arises again.

What warm memories. My Grandfather was a guard on a Ballast train. And I have great memories in the cab, early 80s, even being in the rear cab by myself when it was in motion. Thanks for sharing the video.

I worked in Quigley Magnesite Ballinacourty, when a train came from Bennetts Bridge Kilkenny, 5 mornings a week with stone, and a train also each evening, for Cork with Magnesite. Good old memories.

I traveled Rosslare harbour to Tipperary in the 1960’s and the beginning of the 70’s as a child from London going on holiday to visit my Grandfather’s farm in Bansha, the train used to break into a gallop with a roaring noise coming from underneath the coach, then there would be a brake application,as far as I can remember this was the type of running for the whole journey to Tipperary, the Cravens coach stunk of beeswax, very heavily varnished woodwork, milk white toilet windows, sometimes the train would stop in the middle of nowhere and then a young labourer type would clamber down from the train with a suitcase and clamber up an embankment across a field, pre arranged with the guard no doubt

Great footage. The part where the train is in the curved cut through between the buildings brought back memories. I used to enjoy walking through it, stepping on the sleepers, holding my granddads hand. He was John Roche and was an engine cleaner at the Glanmire road shed. God rest him.
