@arevee9429 Thank you. I don't disagree. We do still like the range. We love the looks, and it's working perfectly again after a pretty simple fix. I was just a bit frustrated that it "broke" after only 4.5 years. But by today's standards with major appliances, I guess that's not terrible.

excellent input ! seems to me that a company that's asking consumers to buy their product at the price they are asking would have prepared for the eventual necessity to replace parts and make them compatible . Again nice video with lots of great info . I was thinking of purchasing this very stove , now Im not feeling this companies commitment to quality .

May I ask why you prefer to use a lead acid battery instead of a lithium battery? You could literally buy a 200 amp hour battery for under $500 and it would extend your time for over one week easily. You could literally go on a trip around the world if you got a 300ah or larger battery. I do like your system set up . I don't have a sump pump but am waiting for the manual transfer which you displayed. We have power failures all the time here in Texas and I am going to use it with a 5KW server rack battery and a 3KW inverter / charger from EG4. I'm building it to be portable using a hand truck or dolly as some people call it. You have a beautiful basement.
@MrNiceguy259

The Basement Watchdog system comes with the lead acid battery. That system is around 10 years old but still working great. The addition of the Ecoflow just gives me extended run time on the primary pump.

Just some quick things to check here, make sure that the inverter on the Eco Flow is set to never turn itself off under no load. This way it wont turn off after a period of no use. Also might be worth for the health of the battery (if you’re thinking of keeping it for 10years+) to set the max charge to 80-90%. And to cycle it down to 30% once a month or so. Edit: In UPS mode the inverter timeout might in inapplicable.

I bought a Viking 30" dual fuel in December 2016. Worst purchase I ever made. It has rarely ever worked properly. Temperature of oven has always been unstable and unpredictable. While under warranty we had it serviced twice and thought it was fixed but the problems came back. Viking HQ had no constructive input. Now the regular mode oven temp varies by as much as 100 degrees and the convection mode while mostly stable (not always) takes 15 to 30 mins to recover after a door opening. Also only 2 burners will light despite service being called twice. We are done with Viking - they Just. Don't. Care.. Your easy fixes for the Zline are impressive and if a broken oven temp light and burnt spade connector are the only real functional issues - I'd say you are WAYYY out ahead. I'm about to buy a Zline RA30 model withe the brass burners and an extended warranty. It has to be better than the Viking trash I wasted my money on 7 years ago.

This is a perfect example of why I hate shopping for any major appliance. It seems like no matter the brand, or how much you pay, there will be great reviews and bad reviews. It just feels like gambling now. I hope you have good luck with your Zline!

@@MrNiceguy259- I agree 100%. Consumer grade and many pro-grade major appliances today are almost all made using cheaply produced electronic components (mostly Asian-sourced). Many also use cheaply made structural and functional components. The entire market is horrible compared to 40 years ago and earlier. Manufacturers are not committing the time and slightly higher cost in demanding & testing for minimum tolerance specified electrical and functional physical components (such as "Mil Spec" quality that the military procurement always demanded). "Style" looks great and that's what sells most unaware consumers, but the quality after the sale is what creates loyal brand customers. Something that seems to have been lost.

The generation of Weber before you had tube/small burner that ran between the burners to keep them lit; you only had to light the main. It was still the same crappy battery-in-a-button system and I replaced it 3-4 times. The bigger issue was that the burners were staged front to back instead of left to right. Good luck with the logistics of trying to keep hot-warm-cool zones and moving things around effectively. Engineering ass-hattery at it's best. Overall, Weber has seemingly cheapened things over the years, but at least they went back to left-to-right burner orientation. I've got just about 18 years on mine I give Weber credit for that - but I managed to burn a hole in my firebox (my fault and lucky it wasn't worse...). I can't revive it this time by just replacing the guts so I'm looking hard at Napolean.

My spirit has the left to right burners. I’ve had mine since 2014 only problem has been burners went out Weber sent me new ones free and gas line went bad easy fix. Not sure why anyone would say they're hard to maintain. They don't rust, and a standard cleaning works like any other grate. I've actually found them to be easier to clean. The main advantage to them is the increased weight and thickness (mass) that holds more heat. I like them a lot.

But I'm between the Napoleon Phantom and the Napoleon Prestige Pro for a replacement. Pro is more $$$ obviously. Curious how you are liking the Phantom so far and how it holds up. Since you use it so much and live in Florida getting the more expensive pro may be better in the long run. Check the specs like how they’re built, grate thickness, etc. Either way, when I cook on my prestige pro I can tell it’s in a new category from my old genesis.

i've been trying to decide between these two model grills. on paper both are great grills that are similarly priced, but the napoleon has more features. BUT on a grilling test video i saw, the napoleon did cook evenly. 8 burgers on it spread across its grill, and the front ones didn't cook as fast as the back, and didn't get the sear marks (cause underdone) that the back ones did. all other 4 grills cooked evenly. Windy day was presented as a possible explanation, but its made me concerned, cause that would be a deal breaker for me. What is your (and anyone else's) experience with a napoleon prestige cooking evenly? i've also read that their customer service isn't good, so the lifetime warranty is meaningless, according to some. can anyone comment on their experiences please? Great comparison video! Thanks in advance for any help you (and anyone else) can offer.

I went from the genesis to the prestige pro. I think any grill will be a little hotter in the back. But the napoleon is definitely better than the genesis. I think of the front/back as two zones…hot and not as bad. You can rotate food as needed.

One other thing you can do is to look into a 'Ting' which is offered free thru some insurance companies (in my case, State Farm). It monitors your 120V, looking for indicators that could be a fire hazard (arc's), brownouts, quick dips in the voltage, etc. But a side benefit is that it will send you a text message that your power is out (since it's not sending data back to the mother ship) and also when it is restored. So if you are on travel , shopping, etc, you will know your house is powered or not. I have a whole house Generac and incredibly, it was even able to realize the generator turned on during an outage. I was seriously impressed (and I'm an electrical engineer). How well will it spot micro arcs, etc...I can't vouch for that.
@MrNiceguy259
@MrNiceguy259 4 ай бұрын
That's interesting...thanks for the info! I'm not familiar with a "ting," but I might look into them. I kind of already get a notice because I have various "smart" devices (cameras, thermostat..etc.) that text and email me when the power goes out because I lose wifi.

@@MrNiceguy259 I also use a Zooz ZEN15 (Z-wave via SmartThings hub) to monitor the sump pump current, how long it runs, and how often it runs. The ZEN15 is a heavy duty device that's meant to handle high current loads like a sump motor. You can set it in SmartThings to never shut off (i.e. the output is always on). I was leery of using anything that might break, but it seems to be the 'go to' device that people use to monitor a sump pump. By monitoring sump pump current, I'll be able to spot any issues before they become serious (hopefully!).

@MrNiceguy259
@MrNiceguy259 4 ай бұрын
Great question. I thought about doing that. The main reason I wanted to go this route is because this way, my primary pump will still run first. The 12v backup pump seems to work ok, but it rarely has to run, so I don't trust it as much. Plus, it's not as strong as the primary. I got a good deal on the Ecoflow at $429, so I felt it was worth it to keep the primary pump running during an outage.

I bought mine in 2022 and they were very limited at that time still. I didn't build it until a year later in 2023. One thing I can't remember if I even seasoned the grates or even have to. I do spray oil on them. I might this year take them out and scrubbed them done and start again. Finally the snow has melted here in Ct and it's time to fire it up. The other issue I had with it is I'm connected to my gas meter and I might have a leak within it but having a hard time finding it with water and soap bubbles...lol Now saying all that I tried cooking wings and came out great. I tried cooking wings again with the rotisserie and the Napoleon basket but I failed. The spit kept falling out during the cooking but that was my fault. There's a little round piece that I forgot to install on it so the spit as it turns doesn't fall out of the hole. The infrared part is awesome but very small. I tried steaks several times but only can do 2 at a time. It's difficult to keep Turning them. As the fats melt down I'm concerned about the life of it. Over all I think I only used it about 10 times and hoping to use it more this year. I also have a Broil King pellet and a Weber charcoal grill so its hard to decide at times which one to use because honestly sometimes my freaking air fryer is the fastest cooking option I have...haha Now saying all that ill keep watching for more videos if you post them. Also most important at least for me buy a cover for it. The grill is so pretty but gets dirty real quick and can only clean it with soap and water.

I so regret purchasing this Z-line RA30. I purchased this in early 2019. Last night the oven started making a strange noise and I opened the door. Oven appeared to have caught fire not sure. A strange grey, foggy odorless smoke came out of the oven after Inshut it iff and opened the door. I was cooking meatloaf. This frightened me. I called zline on three numbers and finally a sweet person in a different department gave my info to customer service. Customer service does not pick up and has not yet called me back. Just know it looks nice but the enamel top stains if you spill any food on it. The oven rack sliders come off the tracks and when you cook, the knobs get hot. Quality is lacking but again, it looks nice in the kitchen's . After the smoke, I noticed a film on the glass door. Just know that the quality is not like the other brands but the appearance is very nice. 2000 down tje drain after four years I want a partial refund to use toward a purchase of the more expensive reputable brand. If you are not a cook and you like the nice look for less$$ then buy it. I hope I hear from Customer Service as promised, but not holding my breath.
