Well, Ms Didonato, it's January, 2025, and you were in a European 'A Level House" again last night. Het Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, with Sir Antony Pappano (Brexit refugee from the Royal Opera) at the helm of Het Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orkest. What a treat for us Amsterdammers. It's no unforgiving opera house, but the kindest and most supportive of venues a singer could hope for. And WOW! You sounded just SUPERB, ma'am. It's the second time I've heard Ms Didonato in there, but last night, the mature voice of this very sensitive singer was rich with overtone and depth not easily heard in an opera house. The voice is in beautiful shape, her artistry is become strong with maturity and, to use her own phrase, she was CERTAINLY VERY PRESENT vocally.. A powerful singer, when heard in a place where every delicate detail matters.

A masterclass setting is not meant to be a performance - the students are learning from the "masters" in order to get better. The purpose of this clip is more to show Jennifer Larmore's work with the student and less the student herself. 😊

@@DiomedesDioscuro Jennifer Larmore had 20 minutes to work with the singer and can give advice and tips to help further development but is not expected to transform a student's singing completely in this time. Some sessions are more successful than others.

I thought for many years, based on her name , and expertise, I assumed Ms Studer was Austrian or German. I even saw an interview from a ways back in German. But no ... born in Midland, Michigan and finished her degree from University of Tennessee! Got her first breaks IN Europe though, after studying with the great Hans Hotter!

I wonder why I almost never get nervous when playing the piano and organ. Even singing in the church choir I only get nervous if the tune is one of my autistic triggers. BTW I love Renaissance and Baroque music and (even though I am an atheist) traditional European hymn tunes and anything arranged by Sir David Willcocks. My all-time favorite tune is the hymn tune FOREST GREEN.
