Hi! I have a couple of these little drums as well that I use in music therapy in a memory care facility. The residents just love playing them. Sometimes I will use one of the little ones in the same key as a large tongue drum to extend the scale. One thing I like to do to mellow out the tone of a little tongue drum is to wrap a deerskin thong several times around the seam where the top meets the bottom. I get nice soft handcut thongs from Crazy Crow Trading Post. My residents can tell the difference immediately and prefer the tongue drums with the wrap. As they tell me; "They don't sound so tanky". I ordered mine from Walmart.

Thank you for your videos. I’ve watched several other people and it gives me a feeling of drum snobbery lol! It’s discouraging and off putting but you made me comfortable again at wanting to pursue this as a hobby for me and my kids. Appreciate you so much. 😊

The resonance and sustain don't match those of a professionally crafted RAV Vast. It sounds dull and flat. A typical knockoff!

Hello 🙋🏻♀️ i like the sound of the Art Quint very much and i can imagine to buy one next year. Now i saw, that there is a new model of the AQ and i want to ask you, if you have the opportunity to test the new one and if you can say something about the differecens of the sound, if there is some. Many greetings Anne

It’s great that you’re showcasing Novadrums! They are - hands down - my favorite tongue drum maker! I have 6 of their drums (and would be in serious trouble if they made and sold handpans). They are true artisans and excellent at their craft! Additionally, their communication and customer service are top notch! I highly recommend them to anyone wanting a high-quality tongue drum at a very fair price! For those that aren’t skilled at playing with hands, Novadrums includes a set of felt mallets, which changes the sound (more refined and clear).

I dont think they are trying "to replicate" the RAV. If you play the rubber rimmed Rav and the brass rimmed- you can hear the difference btwn those 2. Thats why I love the first gen Rav over the 2nd gen.

of course- RAV Vast is the standard. Its the reproduction on sounds that made each of them unique. Each maker has his/her own technique of sounds reproduction. Rav use internal skeleton. AQ uses circle tone field(like the handpan)

You're playing broken chords, or better: arpeggiatos.
@maxandchloemeditation28 күн бұрын
well...arpeggios is the correct terminology. Since most of us play the tongue drums with mallets- its impossible to play 3 notes chords with 2 mallets. we can use DYADS......
@nichttuntun336428 күн бұрын
@@maxandchloemeditation Hey, thank you for answering. What is DYADS? You could use 3 mallets for tritones. Mallets are okay. I like it more when the body is imparted in playing, that has more feel and a different sound and much more technical possibitlity. Enjoy playing. :)

Plain and simple. Chinese pans are junk. They sound awful compared to a decent quality pan. The best China has to offer are made by Mr. Pans who also supplies Yatao pans. i made the mistake of buying a pan from China and immediately regretted it. There is no such thing as a beginner pan just cheap knock offs.
@maxandchloemeditationАй бұрын
I agree with you. But I dont like to call them knock off....well....they are "inexpensive drums" I wish everyone get to own an artisan drum (or play one)but the price is wayyyy out of reach for many. I picked and choose which to bring to my classes depending on the people- if there's kids- I ll bring the Asteman for them to try. I dont usually allow others to play the "better drums". Have a blessed day!
